Essex Cricket 2025

I’d rather Das instead of Allison in T20 but that’s a much better lineup with Rossington thankfully dropped and Thain given a chance.

Hopefully Snater and Pepper sign long term deals next. Could easily see Pepper be tempted away though.

Moving on from Browne and Rossington should free up some cash at the end of the year. Not sure Das will stay around as he hasn’t been getting the opportunities.

I also wonder how long Westley wants to keep playing for? Has a top score of 54 this season - and that was for the 2nds.

Embarrassing a bit harsh as such a tight finish and adds to the frustration of the rain probably stopping a win at Sussex
No it was embarrassing. So many fielding mistakes. Throwing away a winning position. The middle order not being able to hit it off the square/swinging like a rusty gate.

Sometimes you lose to a good team in a tight contest, sometimes a game gets away from you quickly and in chasing it you lose heavily. That’s understandable but this was losing to a dysfunctional Middlesex side again in a game they had every opportunity to win and only appears so close because of all the wides Middlesex bowled.

They are so bad they must be in danger of somehow getting relegated to the North division.

Pretty poor to be honest. At one point we needed 56 runs off 51 balls with 8 wickets in hand. Should have been a walk in the park. But we're a team bereft of confidence.

What the f**k? In the T20 Blast, I know that we can bé slow starters, screw up a good position or fall to the occasional embarrassing defeat.......but being the whipping boys of the League is something else. Thought we were heading for a first win against Middlesex until a moment of madness from Coc and then we just folded:Cry:

Well played Charlie Allison 👏

He’s a big talent who struggled badly this season being asked to open the batting in the Chanpionship and play T20 (where he doesn’t yet have the strength and experience to play the big shots enough) but now he’s being asked to play in a role he’s more suited to he’s produced back-to-back Championship hundreds.

That’s as many hundreds in the last two innings as Tom Westley, Dean Elgar, Matt Critchley and Michael Pepper have combined for all season.

I think he’ll eventually move higher up the order in his career in the Championship and also become a good white ball batsman but for now I’d like to see him concentrate on batting at 5 or 6 in red ball cricket (and maybe on his running).

Will be interested to see how Mackenzie Jones goes. Did see some suggestion that they were trying to sign Khaleel Ahmed who was over here with India A.
