Breaking News Retained/Released list - Wood and Waldron released

RHB

Return to Modnomor Mountain⭐⭐🦐
Anyone have any news on when this list will appear in public?

The final was only 3 days ago. Other clubs have had a month to sort this out.

Kev has to decide with the management team and COSU first. He then has to sit every player down that may be let go or retained and have that conversation with them. They then need to be given time to talk to their families and agents. Give it a few days. We may also be trying to tie a few down that already have a contract, with a new contract (KAF and Gus etc). That will need to be discussed with their respective agents too.

Also, COSU's stance may be different to the one Kev originally thought would be in play for next season. He may have previously thought that he had to keep certain players because the budget wasn't there. Now, based on JR's comments, he may have to rethink and he may be able to let a few more go because there is a bit more cash available to get in upgrades. We don't know.

Will be very interesting to see.

Yep, agree that this thread is a bit premature, but it will provide an early discussion area for posters predictions and views prior to publication.

While it's natural that decisions will be made after the final, I don't actually think that the final really impacts the decision we need to make on the players who are out of contract. I expect we'll offer 1+1 deals to Bridge and Ralph. Waldron and Wood will have known a long time ago that they're not getting a new deal and to start looking for a new club. The only question mark is with Bonne, and it come down to if he's happy to be a squad striker here, or if he'll try his hand at a different club. He's got quality and seems like a good personality, but I don't think we can rely on him being one of our main strikers for next season.

If cancelling contracts weren’t an issue etc I Would genuinely get rid of Hayes, bridge , Miley, Husin, wood , Waldron, Bonne , hopper , walker , as well as goodliffe going back to col u as well. Still think Crowther could be a good CB in a 2 but not a 3 , but can see him leaving as well

There's absolutely no way that a team that finished 7th but was in the top 3 for form for the second half of the season, needs to get rid of 10 players.

I know we all want to do better and improve, but there have been some real overreactions on here following our narrow defeat on Sunday.

The margins were small between the two sides. They brought on Norwood who scored his chance, we brought on Bonne and Walker who both missed theirs. Those are the margins. If we address those areas, we will be in a great place. Wholesale changes really aren't necessary.

Not one player I mentioned have had a good season and imo we can do better. Our form was decent second half of the season but getting in the play offs was helped massively with teams above us being so poor.

Do you think Gus can score a bazzilion goals again next season? If not then those goals need replacing, and then we need to score more as a team. I don't know what the answer is, I veer between just a striker is needed to we need more goals across the team, and apart from a few that looks unlikely so will need more changes.

I absolutely agree that we need to address the goals issue but that doesn't mean we have to get rid of 10 players. Kev has said for the whole season that our squad is already too small. We already needed additions. We simply don't have the financial clout to recruit what we already need and then also replace 10 players.

But that's football. It's no just down to teams not doing well. We still had to accumulate 41 points in the second half of the season to get in there. That was achieved with this current team. That squad wasn't bedded in until the second half of the season.

With no preseason and a squad not fully assembled, it's hard for players to hit the same form. It doesn't mean they are all bad players. With a proper preseason in them and some proper continuity in the club and team, they can easily hit that form again.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should keep every single player, but we really aren't going to let all of those players go. We aren't in a position to do that and many sides wouldn't do that either.

Well said it probably won’t happen but you are right big changes are needed to move forward many of the names you have mentioned are very inconsistent this must change this will be a very hard League next season ( Warning !!!! The Jack Bridge Fan Club won’t be Happy )

If we are to challenge for the league we need to be scoring 35+ more goals than last season and having at least 30 more points. With so many players under contract and with significant debt I just can't see us achieving this next season. I expect the best we can achieve is play off.

We will therefore likely retain most of the squad with the exception of Waldron and Wood.

So here's the thing - and I don't disagree with you, the ones you mention haven't been consistently good - there's no guarantee anyone we bring in is going to be better.

Hayes - I recall most were quite happy when he came in
Bridge - I think he missed Wes massively, again, no-one was saying he was no good at the start of the season
Miley - One of our best players when fit and an absolute engine in the middle. He hasn't had a great season due to injury, not form.
Husin - Certainly one of our better ball players and I don't recall people foreseeing he would be average
Wood - Plenty were screaming for him to be given a chance and how this was going to be his year. Didn't work out.
Waldron - Again, it hasn't worked out for him but people weren't clamouring fo get rid this time last year
Bonne - People were genuinely excited when we got him! And he had a poor start due to fitness.
Hopper - This was the only signing that perhaps was questionable. But he has done a lot of the dirty work and scored a couple of crucial goals.
Walker - He was exactly the sort of signing we wanted; someone proven at this level. Again, injury has played its part in what has been a disappointing season, but no-one could have foreseen that.
Goodliffe - He was pretty solid for us, certainly an attacking threat and mainly solid at the back.

This is Division 5 and we're not going to sign top drawer players. Every single one will be a bit of a gamble.

So in my opinion wholesale changes are NOT what we need. We've just got to within 10 minutes of the EFL. Let's keep these as a nucleus and add quality where we can. Competition for places will always increase performance levels and for the first time for years we will not be restricted by Embargo's and the club is making good noises, gaining National recognition for the way it has risen from death's door.

Players will want to come here. We won't be the big spenders, but that doesn't always work, either.
