TRANSPORT ON SUNDAY

I wanted to ask one or two questions, hoping that people living in the UK may be able to help me with. Then I thought that others may have similar questions, doubts and uncertainties about Sunday, so it may be worth starting a thread. The UK part of my journey starts a 8h55 (PLEASE Ryanair!) at Stansted. I have taken hours looking at the alternatives.......there are many ......Stansted Express, Tottenham Hale, Oxford Circus Wembley Central/Wembley North/Stonebridge Park ( Marylebone, Chiltern Railways to Wembley Park) Tube card 1-3/ 1-4? National Coach, Stansted to Baker Street.......... and I could go on but my head hurts. Then I thought, as there are two of us maybe a taxi would be an idea.......a bit more expensive but a hell of a lot less stress and no complications in changing transport? There is no real concern about the home journey. I'm going back to Leigh-on-Sea for the night, so will probably meander on the tube to Aldgate/Fenchurch Street. The question I have concerns that trip. C2C on Sunday is obviously off-peak, so is there any advantage in pre-booking the tickets or will it be the same fare if I buy them when I turn up?

C2C is tap in tap out like the tube . You would get it cheaper as a group with a railcard but that won’t apply to you. There is no reserved seating. It will be fine getting home to,Leigh. Check timetable. Liverpool st may be better for C2C line. And at worst get greater anglia to Southend Vic ..
Train to Liverpool st from Stansted then al, the various options to Wembley Central or stadium

I'll ask the missus layer, who gets the c2c almost every day. I dont think it makes any difference but is a bit cheaper at the weekend I think.

Faster C2C trains are going from Liverpool St on 1st. You can still get back from Fenchurch but takes longer. Good luck on your travels!

Take the National Express, when your life's in a mess.. no, seriously i'd be looking at jumping on one of those to Marylebone, should think it continues up to Victoria. Cant imagine itll be in any way expensive, wheras a taxi would be megabucks.

Thanks, I'd prefer Leigh as I've got family I'm staying with. On Monday the X30 back to Stansted at the end of the afternoon.

On the broader issue of transport, I was wondering how the coaches are going to work on Sunday? I booked early on the Shrimpers Trust coach, and I think last time I looked the club coaches were up to number 8. I have never used a coach before for an away match but I am guessing this is unprecedented. I think the Trust coaches are due to leave at 10.30, and the Club coaches at 10.00. I guess turn up early and see. It sounds both daunting and a lot of fun!

I think it depends how price conscious you are. It is nearly always better to book online because of the myriad of fares and restrictions. That being said, it will be a few pounds at most, and at the weekend things are a bit simpler. What you want to avoid at all costs is queuing at a ticket office.

I've got a quote of £75 for a taxi. If you total up the other combinations there really doesn't appear to be a lot of difference.......unless I'm too tired at making comparisons. If I was alone, then of course, there would be no question of taking a taxi.

So have a question for people.

Anyone considering driving from Basildon?

I booked a Just Park months ago, which I got for £20 within 20 mins walk of the Stadium. I'm now thinking about going on the train as I plan to have a few drinks.
If I cancel the Justpark, the price would easily jump now to £50/£70+ for anyone else to book it.

Alternatively, if someone was thinking about driving and would be prepared to take 2 passengers, I can then enter a new car registration in my booking. That way you don't pay for any parking.

I would want to aim to leave around 10am and leave approx an hour after the game.

DM if interested in exploring this.

Hiya,

The Shrimpers Trust coaches will be a first come first serve queuing system at Roots Hall. There won’t be allocated coaches prior to arrival, they will depart as boarded to get coaches on the way ASAP.

It’s certainly complicated by the SUFC coaches leaving at 10 you will be directed on arrival. That element is certainly unprecedented.

Feel free to DM if any questions.
