Post-Match Thread and Ratings Forest Green 2-2 Southend United..We win on Penalites 4-2

Mather’s line up was decent imo , walker deserved to be benched and Hopper ran himself into the ground

By far the better side in the first half but FG were resilient and limited us to some half chances , Goodlifes header was as good you will see at any level …..unstoppable

I feel we needed to keep it at 1-0 for 15 mins to clam ourselves , let them make some panic subs and then defend for our lives but they got the equaliser

From then on it appeared we had ran out of steam and a few players looked out in their feet , Leon wasn’t his usual self and Kendall huffed and puffed bit nothing really came off for him .

Could only see them winning it the further the game went on and Cards made a difference when he came on - so glad he didn’t start to be fair and the turning point was his chance he fired wide

I always felt there would be one final chance but felt it would be FG that would nick it 3-1 but what a move and what a goal to equalise - what a time for Bridge to step up and calmly score his most important goal of his career .

Don’t want to dwell on their second goal but do think we could and should have done better - not a night to slag anyone off but it must poses some questions in Mahers head for selection

Anyway Wembley it is and fully deserved , what a night , what a team , what a club

Massive ask with the energy we have lost over the past week with extra time but let’s believe

Lucky I'm typing and not writing this because I'm still shaking and you wouldn't understand a word! We're improving....at least it wasn't a 122nd minute minute equaliser...........and didn't we go behind in the penalty shoot out against Wycombe? It was as up and down as Rochdale but extra time was rather more dramatic. I still can't quite believe it. I've just booked the flight out of Toulouse for my daughter and I......hope I got the right date, I'm in such a state. Sleeping ain't going to be easy. Brilliant performance and Gus scoring the winning penalty was just pure theatre.

They thought it was all over... but it never is with Southend. What a quality bit of play from Jack Bridge for his goal. So pleased for him. And when Gubbins stepped up to take a penalty, how many of us thought WTF..... another good decision by Kev. Everyone at the club deserved tonight's win... players, management, fans and of course COSU. Thank you COSU.
