I think Oldham turned in a very professional performance. They stifled York and the home side had no answer to it. There is no doubting that Oldham are a very good side but if we can win tomorrow night I would still fancy our chances at Wembley.

So would I and I would back us to put up a better performance against Oldham than York and Halifax put together.

It's a funny old game....Latics fans have been slagging off Micky Mellon since January calling him a dinosaur. Now he's a hero and they're 90 mins away from returning to the EFL.

They snuffed out the the threat posed by all York's danger men, and in Mike Fondup you've always got a chance given his strength and aerial dominance.

Having said all of that, if we are fortunate enough to get to the final ourselves, I'd still rather be playing Oldham than York.

York City finished with a whopping 28 points more than us. Oldham only 5...

...just saying :Smile2:

Yep a 46 match 9 month league season changes to a two week cup knock out competition. One false move and you’re out. But of course without the play offs most games would have been meaningless since the end of February. We could end up being the club with the record low number of league points that gets promoted.

I don’t think the set up does the clubs that finish 2nd and third any favours. It’s a mockery that a club finishing 7th in a league can get promoted as one of two teams.
