Breaking News Tom Hopper Signs

Think hoppers been a great re-addition. Experienced, brave, not scared to put his head where it hurts, holds the ball well, wins lots of headers, scored important goals, defends well, decent engine.
Some players would have headed onto the post and stayed down in exasperation. He recovered balance and threw himself towards it.
Committed.

Totally agree, feel he gets alot of undeserved stick at times, but does so much work.

People talk about us being more prepared to go direct- but there’s a reason for that- Tom’s ability to hold it up along Kendall and Bonne’s ability to do likewise and running the channels mean the ball no longer just comes back.

Look back at some of the comments on the OMT re Hopper. It’s bizarre that some people cannot understand the qualities you have posted and the oft repeated comments from KM to his importance in defending set pieces and corners.

It’s that age old, ‘strikers should score goals’ plus I think some people compare him to TH mark 1 when he was a younger player, before his serious injury. Both Hopper and Bonne have had their contributions overlooked, due to lack of goals. Add the assists/goals (which more recently they have) and nobody can complain 😉

Maybe so. I'll be disappointed if Tom is there as a starting lead striker next season if mounting a promotion challenge. Hard work alone wont get us near FGR or York tally of points if we're still in NL. And i'll give him his due, he works extremely hard.

I’ve been guilty of this in the past as I don’t always think he’s performed as well as he is now. On current form I’m happy to say that maybe I was wrong and I hope he continues to prove me wrong. He works very hard. We are crying out for a real goalscorer or two though.

The irony of that is the quickness of thought from Tom Hopper to grab our second goal, thus sparking our recovery on Thursday. Real goalscorer's instincts?

Also he will be great with the less experienced/younger players both on and off the pitch, he always had time to help our lads and often stayed behind at the training ground working with these boys to improve their skills. The Cowleys always had nothing but praise for him, they loved his work rate and honesty, something they look for in all their signings, Ben Goodliffe although a bit younger has very similar attributes.
