What have you watched on TV?

Enjoyed watching the 70s Supermarket on C5 (I think) as part of their 70s throwback weekend. Who knew that Smash had such a huge consumer growth in 1976 because real potatoes hadn't survived because of the weather that summer....and who would have guessed that THAT summer of '76 now doesn't even feature in the top 10 of hottest summers now!

Saw the first three episodes of Andor Season 2 last night. I found the fight in the forest story rather stale, but everything else was excellent. Mon Mothma off her tits on Alien Es was particularly good.

See Michael P.was in Essex yesterday on Great British Train Journeys.Recognised Chelmsford and Maldon not Battlesborough (where I've never been ).Good show.

Enjoyed VE Day 80 on BBC2 last night .Aso saw ealier that Michael Portillo was still in Essex on his Great British Railway Journeys show .This time in Braintree (where I've never been) & Saffron Wadon (where I have).

SAw The Who at the Roundhouse in the 96 Elecrtic Proms concert + Jethro Tull documentary on BBC 4 in the early hours:Saw both bands live back in the day.

When/where did you see Tull?
In Montpellier (when I was working there ) In the early 80's.(Not really a great fan but thought they gave a pretty good show). It was a time when I'd see pretty much any British band on tour ,whether I knew their music or not, which worked fine for Rory Gallacher not so well for Motorhead. :Winking:

Watching "Race Across The World"

Really wanted to go travelling when I was younger after leaving college, but went straight into a job and have been working every since.

Might do it in 13 years when I reach 55 if I'm financially secure and may just quit whatever job I'm working for 2 or 3 months (or take unpaid leave)

Some of these places they visit have to be seen to be truly taken in I'd imagine. Whilst they look amazing on a tv I'm sure nothing beats seeing these things in the flesh.

The Four Seasons - new Tina Fey/Steve Carell Netflix sitcom based on Alan Alda's 1981 film about 3 couples who vacation together throughout the year. Fantastic, and as others have already said, works as a nice gentle follow-on from The White Lotus.

The Bondsman, Amazon Prime.

Kevin Bacon plays a bounty hunter killed in the first episode and brought back to life to hunt down demons who have escaped hell, or who maybe want to get off EE!

It is in a similar vein to the Good vs Evil series that was shown on Sky around 2000 and a film I can't quite remember the name of, Deliver Us From Evil?

it is okay but not much better than that.

I am rewatching 70s TV series The Water Margin on Amazon.

It is a Japanese television adaptation of a 14th Century Chinese story featuring the hero Lin Chung as he battles the evil Kao Chiu.

It is dubbed into English and narrated by Burt Kwouk.

I think the programme still holds up pretty well after all this time as it relies on a fairly simple story of good versus rather than any special effects. But like all good tales, there are some grey areas that our heroes need to be overcome.

Do not despise the snake for having no horns, for whose to say it may become a dragon. Loved watching this in the 70s, partly because there wasn't much else on!

you should, travel is an amazing privilege. I mainly have travelled to watch & follow the cricket (South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, the Caribbean, even the Netherlands) although I have been to several other countries. Watching a previous series of Race Across the World the city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan really caught my attention & imagination.
