Nobody should have thought we’d go to the end of the season without losing again.

Results have gone in our favour tonight. This will go down to the Gateshead game.

You just know it.
I’d rather it didn’t because you know full well that absolute **** Nouble would score to stop us getting in the playoffs.

I can handle losing a game. I didn’t expect us to win every one but the manner of that performance was worrying and I can’t see us making it sadly.
We can definitely make it. The teams around us aren’t any better. Rochdale shipped 3 at home to Boston last week, followed by another 4-0 thrashing at home tonight.

We haven’t played as bad as we did tonight since Maidenhead away at the start of February. We responded to that by going 9 games unbeaten. If we can do that again we have every chance of making it.

Jekyl and Hide applies to 22 teams in the National league. Its the same most seasons. You get a clear leader and someone having a Weston in last place. Even Chesterfield ended up on the beach this time last year.

Apart from Barnet, under current form we have gone the longest without losing. Barnet have 28 from 30 points. They haven't scored many more goals than us but the key factor is they have only conceded 2. We have battled back and won some vital points in recent games. Others claim its 2 dropped. You can only drop points if your in the lead after an hour. For the team and the run those draws are worth more than point.

It amazes me how many fans think its all down to how many you score. Strikers can win you games but Its defences that win titles.
PB built his tems from defence upwards, Loved a clean sheet ,trouble is we arent getting them

Oldham fan in peace Shrimpers! Not the result I was expecting tonight but tbh it’s exactly what we should all expect in this crazy league. Aside from Barnet every other team is unpredictable.
We are ten points clear in the playoff spots but do I feel completely confident? No chance! If you beat us on Saturday you are right back in the hunt and I’ll be nervous but honestly, I’m not sure Gateshead, Altrincham and Halifax will win more than a few games between them so you still have every chance if you can win 3 or 4

Must win Saturday or we could be done, results won't always go in our favour
In 4 hours you have gone from "we could still get a home play off tie" meaning we could finish 5th, to now saying it could all be over after the Oldham game. Amazing how one game can have such a powerful influence on hopes and expectations.

Both statements are factual though.

Do you feel confident though after watching that? Our defence has been terrible for a whle now and it doesn't look like changing. Perhaps the most concerning of all this season is that our longest winning streak is 2 games, twice. That's pathetic for a team that wishes to be going for promotion

Say what you like about Bridge but we seem to be a far worse side without him. Ralph’s contribution is also often underestimated by some on here.

I love coming on here in my morning and reading through the comments after a loss, very entertaining.

As others have said it’s not all over but .. we need a phenomenal run now of wins and ideally, a few clean sheets. Our strength under Maher has often been defence but this season, we seem to concede too easily and no, it doesn’t help when we have Gubbins and Goodliffe replacing Ralph and Golding.
To me, it was always a long shot but it’s not over… yet. I fear it may be pretty soon, please Kev and players, prove me wrong 😑

We were pretty tight defensively in first half of the season. Think we had lowest goals against for quite a while.

Yep but we’ve had lapses in concentration at the back all season sadly. It’s small margins. We really aren’t too far off and the players will know that. Last night was the perfect moment to grab a point (or 3), lay down a statement. To bounce back in style Sat is now important I feel.

At least the table is more even now in terms of number of matches played - aside from Rochdale, who play their two in hand over the next two Tuesdays (both away). So we'll have a better idea of what we need in the remaining matches to get into the play-offs. Got to hope that tiredness might affect Dale with the number of games they've played recently.

Still think we will need 5 wins at least out of 7 to have a chance (6 should assure us). Going to be tough but at least we are still in the mix. Although on paper the Boston result looks bad, they are in good form and we know how a game under the lights can lead to good results for home teams. Main thing is to move on and aim for a good result on Saturday.

Just listened to Parkinson of Altrincham interview after they broke their five game losing spell by drawing last night. Halfway through he goes on a rant about GSM & SUFC doing everything in their power to get Linney banned for 3 games. This to stop them scoring and causing a losing streak to do our best to nick their play off spot. Unbelievable sour grapes, get over it man. Still probably reeling from the postponed game last year after they had travelled down.
