Yes 2 goals in 270 minutes, and although I am of course delighted that they were scored, they were both somewhat fortuitous and neither were down to playing from the back.So we haven't lost possession in the last 3 games - must be working
Easy for him to say, he was naturally gifted on the right wing!A wise man once said:
'Our patience has its limits'.
It was actually Goebbels but it still applies.
And they are happy with the current guff on display?
Odd comment. Why should anyone be bothered if you’ve read a post or not?Couldn't be assed to read all that
Oh dear, maybe look at the title of the thread???Odd comment. Why should anyone be bothered if you’ve read a post or not?
Fair enough but why are you viewing the thread and commenting ?Couldn't be assed to read all that
If you had bothered, you would have read a post that was constructive and had a point, unlike your post.Couldn't be assed to read all that
To bring this conversation back to RHB's excellent post, it seems like a lot of fans have written this season off already because we won't finish top, and yet last season the vibe was that we would sneak into the playoffs and win promotion.Patience is a virtue, or so they say, and if ever our coaches and squad needed some it's now. After months of rubbish off the field we have a set of new, caring owners, but because of the time it took to sink the rat, all our first choices for newbies had buggered off to other clubs, and nobody could blame them. Then along comes FGR to nab handsome Harry, Kensdale departs under a cloud and Kav Miley cops a long term injury. That has all been said before, but it did kick the heart out of the team. Bit by bit, things are improving with our defence rediscovering their duck's arse water tightness. There still some little leaks there, but it's coming on well. Our middle boys are blowing hot and cold, but again are improving, and Kav is edging nearer to fitness again. Up front is still sometimes ok and sometimes not so good, maybe Danny Waldron will add a bit more edge to the front line when fit.
All of that lot requires patience from supporters and the big question is have we got any? For my part I'm still patient as I believe that, given time, we will blossom into a very decent side. This season? maybe, next season? highly likely. It's so easy to wade into the squad and coaches when things don't go the way you want them to, but if you spend just a little time understanding why we are where we are then patience is not quite so hard to achieve.
I don't expect loads to agree with me, and frankly, I don't give toss whether you do or don't, but I do get ****ed off when folk decide that the reasons we are where we are add up to irrelevant when it comes to demanding improvements. I doubt very much if the players or coaches want us to do well, they prefer to get rinsed on a regular basis.
Sadly i agree, we are a bang average mid table non league team, 3 or 4 very good players away from being near the top.I'm not convinced how strong the squad is. It's certainly small, and within it there are only a couple that other teams would bite your arm off for. Maybe half a dozen or so that would likely get another NL gig on a free and the rest may well struggle to get another NL gig. That doesn't strike me as a strong squad.
2 wins and a draw in our last 3 away games, no goals conceded. That's a good sign. Let's see what the January trf window brings before writing this season off.Sadly i agree, we are a bang average mid table non league team, 3 or 4 very good players away from being near the top.
I believe I can fly!Teams in the middle of a rebuild, ive seen the progress at the last 3 games, bloody fantastic. Got all the patience in the world me, we are going up the table and its a joy to watch, plus with the absolute incredible support at games we'll get there together.
Watching games on tv is actually depressing, being in the stands is a very inspiring feeling especially away from home, taking over 500 fans on a Wed night to non league Aldershot is crazy numbers when you are below mid table, i have massive admiration for these mighty Shrimper faithful who back Kev and his players.
Patience is a virtue, but belief is a bigger factor here.
I believe in Kev Maher.
I believe Bim Pepple HAS to be a goalscoring success during his loan or his career might stall.
I believe Oli Coker has gone out and proved himself since injury.
i believe Crowther has turned a corner, what a bloody star he was at Aldershot.
I believed in Collin and so did those that went to Eastleigh and sung his name.
I believe in Josh Walker, it takes a certain character to totally spoon a chance that fell to him on Saturday, only to bloody smash it home with the other foot.
We'll get there, in fact we are on the way
Definitely not. That helps no one. But demanding better as paying customers I think is perfectly fair. Are you suggesting we should all quit attending?
I agree. One of those mistakes being to change managers too regularly. People that want to change a manager who hasn't been given a fair crack yet are not just part of the problem, they're the biggest obstacle to long term progress. I'd be very surprised if the author of a book would argue that quitting when you haven't been given the resources to do your job properly (yet) would benefit anyone.
(I might change my mind when I feel that KM has been given the resources he needs to implement the things he wants. Up until now the shadow of RM hangs over everything this club does. I would argue that the best we can hope for is a play off place. Next season, ceteris paribus, I would hope for a lot better.)
3 years of RM and embargoes. Even last summer's recruitment was ruined by RM holding the club to ransom.I agree.
3 years is quite a long time however.
Yes resources etc etc however same fundamental issues exist.
Forward play, poor substitutions, same mentality approach, inflexible formation approach and mostly dire football etc etc.
I don't see km ever taking a team out of this league
Not so long ago we signed both an excellent midfielder and a proven goalscorer, more than capable of producing the attacking football and goals that should take us out of this moderate league. Sadly our manager doesn’t have the tactical nous to use them effectively. We need a signing to galvanise the team on the pitch. It’s been a while since we have signed a player that has made a real difference to the team.
Both unfit because that was all that was left on the market. Not so long ago we signed both an excellent midfielder and a proven goalscorer, more than capable of producing the attacking football and goals that should take us out of this moderate league.
