Steve Arnold departs for Sutton

I wouldn't be worried if Collin was the Number 1. He will just get better and better. Was about this stage that Dan Bentley became first choice. All goalkeepers make mistakes, De Gea, LLoris, Pickford make their fair share over a season.
Couldn't agree more. I think Collin will be more than sufficient has first choice next season. Him and Justham would be an excellent GK department, with Justham passing his knowledge to the already very good Andeng Ndi.

Gutted if Steve goes, but I'm glad it's by him finding a new club, rather than us releasing him due to age/injury.

A great servant for the club.

He's the second player to leave what I sincerely hope is not a sinking ship.

STEVE Arnold looks set to leave Southend United, Echosport understands.
The experienced shot-stopper has made 53 appearances for the Shrimpers since signing in the summer of 2021.
But the 33-year-old is now out of contract at Roots Hall and is expected to join a club currently playing in League Two.
Arnold was voted player of the year in his first season at the club but injury restricted him to just 10 appearances last term.
Once fit, Arnold battled with Collin Andeng Ndi for a starting slot between the sticks.
However, Blues boss Kevin Maher has been unable to offer Arnold a new deal due to the club's transfer embargo which remains in place due to money owed to HMRC.

Can't hide my disappointment at Steve leaving. A fantastic goal keeper and seems a genuinely nice person too. I think last season's injury has clouded a few fans memories of how good he was. He was player of the season in our first year in this abyss and he was a major factor in us not being in a relegation battle. He made huge saves and kept us in a lot of games. I'll always be grateful for that.

However, I'd be more disappointed if he was to make a switch to a National League club, but if it's a League 2 club, we can't begrudge that. He most certainly has the talent to play there, and higher. Good luck Steeeeeve! You'll be missed and loved in equal measure.
