Breaking News Season ticket prices go up for 2023/24

I never ever said I wasn’t for them getting a discount , just asked why they should get one over any other working person after all they do get paid for what they do . Is it enough is another argument, nurses definitely not I’d say.
BTW I wouldn’t be cutting my fingers off , the plumber might but not me 😊

Because they are the emergency services. Your plumber is in it to make a profit. He will come round (sometimes in an emergency, granted) and give you a price for the job. The bigger the job, the bigger the price.

If you come to my office and enquire about my services, I will give you a price and it will be one that is intended for the firm I work for to make a profit.

The emergency services don't charge you a price. They just do their job, very often in either overwhelming or dangerous conditions (and sometimes both) for no reward other than their salary, which has generally stayed the same for years so is worth about 20% less than it was.

Anyway, we've wandered way off topic here.

My plan is to just attend away games next year. Love the players/management, hate the regime. No business deserves such steadfast support when customers are treated with such disdain. There are no guarantees that the club will even exist when the first matchday comes around, so I personally can't justify the outlay regardless of whether I think the price-hike is reasonable or not.
In fairness, in most situations where I'm a customer I don't ask to see the accounts or ask for an exit strategy for the chairman, or even ask if the staff are getting paid on time.

I'm being a bit facetious here. I'm really picking up on your use of the word "customers". We're not customers, we're supporters and have a vested interest (even if not necessarily a financial investment) in the "business".

Don't believe I was specifying you in particular or suggesting that any Southend-based fans would make that choice. It was an example given I have been there recently. Also, I, like many other Shrimpers, don't live in Southend anymore - I'm closer to Chelmsford, hence that example being used.
My closest team happens to be Boreham Wood, but I have absolutely no interest in supporting them. They're an awful club and they play awful football.

I even mentioned to my wife yesterday that I'm close to giving up. I suppose the recent years have taken their toll. If only Ron would **** off.

It's true. Nurses are undeserving... give it all to the worthy MPs! ... oh hang on....

My local pub has become a terrible place to go. No football subscription, inedible food, limited beer selection and knackered toilets. As a customer, I wouldn't commit to hosting an event there in 6 months time as I'm not convinced it'll still be a going concern. The exact same goes for Southend United FC. I don't need to see the accounts (where would I get an updated set of those anyway?) to know if a season ticket is a wise investment... The silence out of the club is enough.

Its really great to see people changing their thoughts about how the club is run and its nice to see people standing up against RM. I've been like this for the past 2/3 years but have always felt in the minority, but I'm starting to feel like people are starting to see sense so kudos to those "seeing sense".

Each to their own on the decision but I say enough is enough. Next to no players will want to sign for us as they can't count on being paid, it's happened too many times now.

We have had more wins against HMRC than we have had league wins in the last 5 years, it's beyond embarrassing. We as a fan base have made it far too easy for Ron to keep going and for what? To be shafted for years of embargoes to then get a new stadium, that we won't own, and then get shafted some more after. The clown has to go, if facing his hand by completely starving him of cash is the way to go then it's got to be done.

Really can't see us being the only Club to raise prices, across the whole country. Most Clubs would have been protected from rising energy costs by contracts being signed before rates began rising steeply.

Those contracts are coming to an end and know in some cases, cost per unit has tripled. Our Village Fish and Chip shop are facing a monthly increase of around £400 in energy costs alone. Funnily enough they have increased their prices. We will find out Wednesday in the Budget, whether the Government will offer businesses more help, if they don't businesses will disappear.

As unpalatable as rising ticket prices are the Club are in no way able to absorb rising costs.

You are not lining Ron's pockets, you cannot expect any owner to subsidise a failing business to the tune of £2.4 million each year. It is just not sustainable as we are finding out

We all want a return to the EFL as soon as possible, let Tom and Co do the first part by doing their best to ensure the Club's survival.
Who’s responsible for the fact sufc is a failing business?

No we haven’t.

Yeah I got that.

But it diminishes the great work Kev & Co have done since coming in.

If it was the spell under Campbell, MM & PB mark 2, I’d agree, however as a football team, not Club, we’ve moved on so much since then.
I take your point. Yes, we should be very grateful for what Kev and Co have done. They've worked wonders under awful circumstances.

Out of interest as we're playing Aldershot on Saturday, I checked their season ticket prices last season £340 concessions over 65 & 18-21 £270 and £108 youths ., so in comparison our concessions 60 plus is still a good deal and that is even extended to away supporters too .
Only good vfm if management team can operate without continuing embargo .

I think it’s more the fact we still aren’t behaving like a normal club like paying agency fees that would justify the price
