I never really knew much about this story but read up on it a bit more after your posts.I did hear that one man (a crook) helped himself to a big chunk of the money and bought a house!
I wonder how many mergers the late Dave Andrews was involved with.
Dagenham and Redbridge in my opinion will never ever return to The EFL.
I attempted to get some help from The Football Supporters Association but they were of no use.
I once spoke to an F A official about the merger and all he could say "I am sorry to lose Dagenham!" (yikes and double yikes) I put the phone down and steam was coming out of my ears.
Myself and a few others moved across to Romford...No falling out with others who support D and R............I now go to the cinema a lot + I now watch football online/T VI never really knew much about this story but read up on it a bit more after your posts.
Are there many of you “old” Daggers fans who stopped going after the merger? Did you fall out with anyone who carried on going to Victoria Rd? Assuming some did.
Would you ever follow another team? Sorry, just interests me, this stuff. Reminds me in a lot of ways of the Wimbledon story.
No not far, I walk. I’ve no real feelings about D&R to be fair, other than it’s an easy ground to get to. I lived in Barking & Dagenham for years but never knew anyone who went regularly to their games .. just a few WHU who’d go on a day they weren’t playing at home. Interesting to read thoughts of other fans on here.Myself and a few others moved across to Romford...No falling out with others who support D and R............I now go to the cinema a lot + I now watch football online/T V
What are your feelings about Dagenham & Redbridge?
Do you travel far to get to R H?
Very few on here know about the shocking history of Dagenham and Redbridge and most do not even care (and why should they?)...Well they are a 2 bob manufactured pub club.No not far, I walk. Hi Baldy , Do you remember Tony Bass , I knew him when I was a kid and he used to play for Woodford Town , My Dad was the "Man with the bucket and sponge " at Woodford in those days and we used to go in the clubhouse with Tonys dad after gamesIt was the only game that I have been to at Roots Hall..........My team Dagenham (The REAL Daggers!!) put up a great performance.
John Still was a great centre half.
The home keeper performed really well (I have forgotten his name) I do remember that he was a Scot.
Does anybody else remember this game?
P S I have never supported Dagenham and Redbridge (The fake Daggers) and I did hear that there were allegations of strange goings on at the merger meeting!
Harsh...Very few on here know about the shocking history of Dagenham and Redbridge and most do not even care (and why should they?)...Well they are a 2 bob manufactured pub club.
Yes all the WHU fans I know bang on about the lack of atmosphere compared to the Boleyn. Isn't it ironic that at a time they are flying so high, they're doing so away from their spiritual home .. don't think getting tickets there is an issue and they're supposed to be very cheap compared to say, Spurs or Arsenal.Harsh...
They are an amalgam of sooo many clubs out that way, I'm surprised one survived.
I guess there was a demand back in the day, and would love to know what happened to the grounds of Barking, Ilford and Redbridge Forest?
Walthamstow Avenue were once giants in non-league.
The fact D&R exists is some sort of testament to tenacity, bearing in mind Spam down the road.
Have wondered whether any WHU have fallen out of love with a converted athletics stadium? I was there for the Olympics, but am told it's soulless for football.
Barking had nothing to do with it.Harsh...

Yes, I know.Barking had nothing to do with it.
Redbridge Forest only ever played at Victoria Road, Dagenham.
Romford F C by this time the club had developed Brooklands considerably in anticipation of eventually being elected to the Football League and had large debts to show for it, and had to sell Brooklands in 1975 but remained until 1977.[4] After a season of borrowing grounds to play home matches they resigned from the Southern League [2] and folded in 1978, with the building work on a new ground barely started and hardly any money left.Yes, I know.
The point attempted was they were one of many east end/Essex clubs that went to the wall in the 70s.
Forgot to add, Romford.
What is his name?My brother played for Romford F C in the mid 60s, When i was very young, (there's 16 years between us). I came across his old club tie a few years back and returned it to him. I remember watching him play when I was small, he was at Basildon United then.
