John Still Speaks....

A very controlled, prepared and professional interview by Mr Still

I have visions of the 6 of them sitting around having a Ted Lasso problem solving meeting.

And "lots of players whose contracts are up" was a key point, those players are on notice.

I hope they keep that list hidden from agents and journalists.

His voice is very Jimmy Greaves

John Still's just gone right up in my estimation. We've gone from the worst ever backroom and scouting team, including manager etc, ......to the best.
This is/was the man who should have been appointed as the Manager of Southend United at various times over so many seasons. His overall football knowledge is second to none at so many levels especially in the lower leagues where we currently find ourselves playing. I for one really hope at some time this season or later in the year we could persuade John to do a Q & A at Roots Hall, I am sure it would be a very interesting evening listening to him.
P.S. For those of you who are too young to remember back in Dec. 1970 John Still played for Dagenham at Roots Hall in the F.A. Cup. His team were beaten 1-0, Billy Best scored the only goal.

It was the only game that I have been to at Roots Hall..........My team Dagenham (The REAL Daggers!!) put up a great performance.

John Still was a great centre half.

The home keeper performed really well (I have forgotten his name) I do remember that he was a Scot.
Does anybody else remember this game?

P S I have never supported Dagenham and Redbridge (The fake Daggers) and I did hear that there were allegations of strange goings on at the merger meeting!

Thanks----Were you at the game?
Yes I sure was, funny thing that just a few years ago when Dagenham won at Roots Hall, I think it was a another cup match(possibly J.P.T) I spoke to John about that particular match and about how lucky we were to have won it and such was his knowledge about football in general I asked him if he could remember who scored the goal that day and he replied immediately "That Little Bugger Billy Best" what a memory and what a man.
