Things are going to hell in a hand basket!

My parents who are octogenarians are telling us kids that they can’t see themselves surviving this. My mum has just had heart surgery and a minor stroke as a result of the surgery. She has been down since the surgery and now with this it is virtually tipping her over the edge.

They were born into a **** fight that was WWII and now they see themselves dying in another **** fight.

At the moment us kids are just trying to keep them calm and fed and watered.

I never use the toilet without washing my hands after, like you obviously. So I've never understood the high percentage that don't wash their hands. Now with the potentially deadly virus about, you would finally expect a lot more of them to wash their hands, but no, nothing seems to have changed. Shocking really.
I’m a bit concerned by the fact MK knows this. Was he on toilet watch? You can get nicked for stuff like that.

Lots of people talking about a cough/cold/flu going back to New Year in the UK, with symptoms similar to COVID, I wonder how many people have actually had it without realising, which would explain the speed with which it's spread across the world.

I have a cold myself that's been kicking around for about 10 days, I have a cough that is not persistent and is worse in the morning, on waking, and at night. I had a really bad sore throat for a week and have a stuffy nose, and occasional sneezing fits (not that that is anything out of the ordinary, as I never sneeze just once). I have no problem breathing, no fever and no aches or pains that are not part of my normal arthritic type ones. This is the same cold that others in the office have had, which even our lady with leukaemia has had and got over.
I wonder this, whether it was on the move even before Christmas, my Mum’s partner was off work in Jan for 2 weeks with very similar symptoms.

I was in my local Morrison's last night deciding which frozen pizza to purchase. Just so happened to sneeze and the 3 people that were stood around me all literally took a step away from me. Joked with one that I'll have to stock up on on food until I finish my self isolation. She gave a nervous laugh and rushed to the next isle as soon as she could.

Think that's the reason why people are stocking up on toilet roll. One person sneezes and 100 **** themselves

Have been told to work from home next week, and possibly the week after.

At home my youngest son has developed a bad cough and temperature, which my eldest son and wife had about a month ago and both recovered from.

All the talk is of Coronavirus. Hard to say if they are one and the same thing? Typically many people get similar symptoms with a bad cold each year. And unless you’re a PL footballer, film star or politician you’ve got little chance of getting tested.

Makes you wonder how many people have Coronavirus itself or just a bad cold / mild flu?

My wife spent 30 mins getting through to the 111 NHS number, and they could only advise for our son to self isolate, no offer to get him tested.

I heard in Korea they were testing 10k people a day, which has resulted in them containing the virus, our UK government as usual is going against the grain of all other countries and sitting on its hands waiting for it to escalate. It’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better I fear.

My local supermarket wasn't any more crowded than a normal Sunday. The only difference to normal was several people sanitising their hands after every time they touched something. And that you're totally out of luck if you want toilet paper, soap, painkillers, pasta, rice, tinned tomatoes or eggs.

Most of our office will be working from home for at least the next couple of weeks. I'm going in as part of a minimal team to keep stuff running so there's something for people to connect to from home.

My sister works in recruitment for the NHS and they are operating a policy now where they will just advise isolation for people unless their symptoms are really bad.Testing is not really happening now

Austria have banned gatherings of more than 5 people.....Shame they didn't think of that in about 1933
I get the joke, but according to this it would have been better had they allowed mass gatherings.
Oddly enough, March 1933 was pivotal for Austria: a few more in the streets might have made a difference.

I was saying to my wife a colleague and myself had something while working away a persistent cough and cold like symptoms that wouldn't shift. Although slight fever nothing like proper flu. Scared to tell her as it's probably manflu.
Can't wait for when we have to tell her Mother that the government want her to self insulate.
Anyone around Thundersley I apologise in advance for the industrial language
?

Maybe if you bought her an electric blanket that would help?

Serious question how do you enforce self isolation? If your 71 and have a round of golf booked do you play? Seriously have no idea. If it's left to people born during a world war, I can see a lot of how about bollocks attitude and maybe rightly so.
