i guess a debate went to far from me & tottenham sorry for going of track guy & dolls

anyway I STILL WANT A SCOTLAND TOUR unless we can raise more money and maybe tour spain? that would be worth the trust splashing out on lol

Personally, I'm pleased to see some debating going on, and some fairly impassioned posts being made. Just to clarify, the recent £12k "donation" wasn't quite as it sounds. Physio equipment (which had been second hand when purchased, and inherited by Ben Clarkson) needed replacing as it was no longer benefitting the players requiring treatment. The plea came about through a Zone member highlighting this via another Zone member and to the Trust. This was agreed up to the value of £2k, the other £10k is for continuation of the Youth Team sponsorship which I hope you will all agree, has proved beneficial, particularly this year. It's never an easy decision to agree to requests for funding and they're definitely debated and decisions are rarely unanimous.

I cant see the Issue with the trust helping out the club we all love and support!!

I mean Ben had nothing to work with at B&L so god knows how he managed to get of the players back to fitness so quickly

So fair play trust for listening to the fan(s) and following it up :)

Sturrock sounds like an old stick in the mud with a "I've always done it this way so it must be right" attitude. Was it of benefit in the seasons he got his team relegated ?

If he wants to get the players fit and do something out of the ordinary get them down to the new pool for a couple of weeks every day, enlist the help of the swimming coaches to whip them into shape, no danger of injury and they will be shocked how unfit they are compared to an elite swimmer !

Just cannot get my head round the CEO of our club asking a supporters group for money to undertake a tour that the club can ill afford.

I am not a Trust member so have no say, but again this calls into question our financial resoucres at the club and how we are being run.

I agree with everything Paul Sturrock and Craig Easton have said on the matter but a similar tour closer to home, say Hampshire or Kent would equally be of benefit. I just think one or two posters are a little ott because they have already booked their summer holiday in Scotland!

Delighted that the Trust has agreed funds for the Youth team sponsorship.

But its about being Match fit to play football not the olympics :)

Kent would suit me fine.

Agreed when it comes to swimming but im sure an elite swimmer would not be able to play football at the pace and intensity professionals do.

Dear Trust,

I am starting a new Southend Ununited Football team and we have organised a team bonding tour of the Maldives to play some pre-season Beach Football. Please will you contribute £25000 towards the trip. I will contribute myself by buying the English Brekkies at the Airport!
Looking forward to receiving your cheque.
Regards

P Taker

ps. You can come and watch if you like.

Steve, we get the message. You don't like the idea!!! :finger:

What gets me is, if we arrange a friendly with Canvey we get, 'oohh for god sake, why can't we play someone different?' If we arrange a friendly against Truro we get 'ooh for god sake why can't we play someone more local?'
If we don't organise a tour we get 'dearo dear, why can't we do something different like a tour, with a few clubs?'
If we do organise a tour we get the opposite. You get the point.
LOL

Whatever the club do they can never be correct. I see the point of that it is costing the club money etc...but come on, it gives us something different. The players get to experience playing against teams in leagues that are VERY physical which can only be a good thing. Just adds to players' like Kane Ferdinand, Lee Sawyer and Ryan Hall another experience which can only help their game. That isn't the only reason that this is a good idea, it also allows the players to have a bit of a bonding experience which you always need however 'tight knit' the squad is.

Voted in favour. If Sturrock and Easton want it who am I to disagree.

As mentioned earlier though I would be interested to know what the Trust feels their assets are best used for, personally I would still think an amount ring fenced for a worst case scenario might not be a bad thing but helping the club where ever possible sounds logical to me.

Yeah, i'm not against the Touring aspect, i'm against the Touring and asking the Trust to part fund it!
If you havent got the money you don't go. Simple!

I do completely agree with you, if the trust knew they were going to get their money back on (insert date here) then it wouldn't be a problem I suppose!

I with you on this Steve. Considering the £240million or whatever Tara made in business until he stupidly ******* it on Wrong Martin's retirement fund ground, £20K is bugger all to him! For him to ask for us Trust members to cough up £10K is a **** take, especially considering he will take out of the FF deal more than he put in.

Want green or red Steve for such a great post/!!

The way the Trust statement is worded I am of the opinion the Trust do not really want to contribute. Using the point that they had recently parted with £12,000 makes me think they are a bit reluctant.

That's the way it reads to my suspicious mind.
