I cannot believe anyone seriously considers eating that ****. It is NOT fast food, it certainly contain little meat and plenty of sheit and should definitely be banned.

Incredibly I spent over 3 years working at McDonald's during my 2 university years and then for a year whilst a looked for a proper job!

In my opinion, McDonald's food is nowhere near as bad as it's made out to be, and is far and away the best 'fast food' outlet.

McDonald's strictly enforce many procedures and operations and the company do use the very best sources (not as in tomato source!) to supply their foods.

Better, i'd suggest, than a number of 'proper' restaurants.

I bet there's a few other current/former McDonald's employees lurking on here....

Me! I had a job there when I was at school. The hygene standards at Maccy D's are very high indeed, but I would disagree about the quality. It's ****.

Not only is it ****, it is all fried and is therefore fried ****! Only MacDonalds can go healthy by introducing a salad into their menu....that has more calories than a Big Mac!

Well you can't ban it, but they really are an insidious company...blatantly advertising to children, devestation of the rainforests, aggressive dealing with farmers so the value of a livestock ends up to be negigible which leads to mass factory farming (when did chickens have nuggets?).

Maybe, but the parents of said children are the ones really to blame. I don't see anything wrong with taking children to a fast food place occasionally by way of a treat - the issue is with people who let their chiildren eat there several times a week.

I agree there is no point in banning it. All you do is deprive graduates valuable career opportunities.

This is very true. What else should you ban? Even worse is singling out one company to be banned and not a more general target. Are Burger King really any better? Don't Pizza Hut encourage an all you can eat buffet? Don't Domino's provide dips with pizzas with more calories than the pizzas themselves? Isn't the great British fry up oozing in grease?

I don't think you should ever set rules on lifestyle choices.

Anyhow, the idea that McDonalds is making our kids fat is a bit of a joke. I grew up in a time where McDonalds used focussed marketing to encourage kids in, I've worked there for a time and I have no qualms about eating their food. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm not anywhere near fat and would probably suggest I have more.

McDonalds food is engineered to appeal to consumers in exactly the same way all consumer products are.

McDonalds are fortunate that everyone on the planet has to eat to survive, they don't have to buy an iPod or a pair of Nike trainers.

This is a shockingly snobby admission but the reason I (very) rarely eat at McDonalds is not because I disagree with their corperate policy (which I do) or that I don't enjoy the food (and once you have tasted one, who doesn't fancy a Big Mac from time to time?). It is because I seem to be the only person in the whole restaurant that feels guilty for being there....

Now, i know that sounds a funny thing to say, but the way that they have battled on as a business, and changed in some ways, in the face of such fierce critisism, while still being able to pull in the punters is quite a credit that they must be doing something right.

I think its become cool to say you dont eat at Macdonalds, but half the people who say they dont probably do, as i cant imagine that many people wouldnt occasionally, just cos its so bloody easy!

Yep thats what we do, chicken nuggetts,fruit bag and she normally has a water we take with us.

Still not great for her but its only once a month at the most.

Dave, the "chips" or to give them their correct name fries (chips have potato in them and aren't covered, whether you like it or not, in tons of salt which makes you thirsty, and therefore buy more drink. Oh and yes we all know that chips in continental Europe are actually crisps) would probably be a much healthier option than the fruit shoot. Check the additives in the juice Dave and look at how your child acts before and reacts after drinking it. Even Tescos own cheap OJ is a much healther option, trust me on this.

We are gradually turning our children into obese, hyperactive brats. Coupled with the fact that there's next to nothing for them to do is it any wonder some of them are hanging around on railway stations and the like and getting themselves dragged into dodgy dealings. Even the French now have a problem with obesity. It is our desire for quick, easy food, supermarkets driving prices down and pricing farmers out of the game, or forcing them into intensive farming, that is at fault.

To think that 20 years ago we used to laugh at the stereotypical view of a middle of the road US family.

So yes I agree that you can't ban McDonalds, Burger King etc but maybe we need to start handing out ration cards and teaching people how to cook for the kids a few times a week. Those that say they haven't got time shouldn't have had the kids in the first place? Actually while we are on the subject a mass sterilisation of the underclass would work wonders in 20 or so years time.
