I was mulling over RM's attempts to buy out Delancey and the £10m that has been bruted about as the price, and wondering how he would raise it, which led me to wonder what would happen if he tried to raise some of it by a share issue. Would he make much, and who here would commit - and how much?

This applies equally to personal purchase of shares, or donating to the Trust so they can buy a block and possibly get a rep on the Board (yeah, I know, but humour me

Cash is tight (or is it just me) up here, but I would love a chance to invest in the club, might scrape together a few hundred.

I would probably buy more than a thousand pounds worth buth then again I spend that much on a decent cigar.

Also good for a couple of grand.
The pensioner next to me in the West Stand has some SUFC shares and I often think I should ask him if he is willing to sell.

He is 87 and been a supporter for 80 years.Has some great stories.

Unless Southend floated on the market the shares would likely be between 500-1000 each going on deals I have seen in the past on other footy club shares that are not floated.

I have ten shares in Southend United Football Club Limited, that I bought for £7 each a couple of years ago when the club did an offer. I would buy more, but as a limited company, they are had to come by...

I've got 21 shares that were given to me as present a fews year back, i've got no idea how much 1 share is worth in SUFC.

I'd recommend any fan to get on the waiting list so that you can attend the AGM.

I'd want to see what was being propsed to do with the capital raised by the Share issue. In particular, I'd want to see some safeguards written in, along the lines of:

* A binding undertaking to all shareholders that a restrictive covenant would be placed on the use of any new football site.
* A binding undertaking to all shareholders that there would be a seat on the board for SUSCT
* Clearly outlined proposals for the future progress of the club, with reference in particular to the manner in which it is being proposed to divest the club of its off-the-field liabilities.

With those sorts of safeguards in place, I'd be persuaded to buy some shares - possibly quite a few. However, nice bloke though he is, I am sure Ron would appreciate - wearing his businessman's hat - that few would be willing to invest money in the club on a wing and a prayer...

1. Yes, absolutely

2. Would be nice but can't see it happening unless the Trust could raise enough to buy a significant number of shares - on the basis of a rep on the board.

3. Yes. Wouldn't that be normally expected in the prospectus though?

I think that many fans, myself included would invest a certain amount in the club just because it is our beloved Southend, without really expecting to ever see anything back except an annual invite to the AGM. But if Ron wanted to raise more than just "Sentiment" money, then your caveats would be a very good starting point.

If I wasn't such a poor student, I'd be willing to invest a few hundred quid in SUFC....
