Worst Ever Round

DTS

The Business
Went out for a beer with Smudger yesterday in Hove and got in my cheapest ever round for two people...All of £3.30......Mainly due to the fact the Smudge Man only had a lime and soda water....

Still got me thinking of all the times I have been stung.

My worst ever was in Manumission in Ibiza - 8 bottles of beer cost me a whopping £64 - (£8 each for a bottle of Heineken).

Anyone else been stung recently.

Prices in 5* hotels really do take the ****. Thank the lord for Corporate Cards. I've regularly hit four figures without having to bat an eyelid (not just for one round though !!!)

Watch out for The American Bar in the Savoy Hotel. I bought a round for three people... when the bill came in at north of £35 I did do a double-take...!

Great bar, though...

Dont know if any of you stayed down in Bournemouth after our away game in April? Steer clear of Toko or Bliss at the weekend. Pints are about £3.50 and any doubles with mixers will empty your wallet.

I seem to recall getting stung for a few 4 figure rounds whilst I was out in Hong Kong - admittedly the exchange rate was about 14 HKD to the pound - but that is still about 70 plus quid.

And I am actually talking about the genuine bar bills rather than the tabs that one might have to cough up for at the end of a night in Wanchai should one have enjoyed some female company.

Been to a few clubs and bars in London which charge £6+ for a drink. Went to the ice bar the other week which cost me £18 for two drinks, although I think that included entrance to their freezer.

On the other side of the coin, when I lived in York there were a couple of Sam Smiths pubs which charged £1.10 a pint so my cheapest round would probably have been the same price as yours but with an extra drink thrown in. Alternatively the clubs were 50p all drinks before midnight, but as you needed to drink at least 8 in order to step foot inside, a round never cost less than £4.

Went to Brussels for a long weekend last year and stumbled across this Irish Bar off the main Square. It worked out a bottle of Stella (Not the Dumpy ones) worked out at 60p each, and were 2 for 1 during Happy Hour

However, the cheapest round of my life was also in Brussels... I'd thoroughly recommend doing the tour of the Stella factory. At the end of tour, which includes samples, you gain entry into the Bar inside the factory where employees drink. Theres free entry for those in the tour, and 6 pints of Stella came out at £0, the Bar is Free

I did £2.20 in Cheltenham. That was 3 of us!

38 euros, for a JD and coke, and double vodka red bull, in a hotel in denmark...

I once did a £49 round in Panchos on London Road. I think it was 13 shots of Absinthe and two Sambucas. Or something like that.

I've only topped that once, which was in The Elms just before 11pm on the day we went up. Having just got back from Swansea I ordered two bottles of champagne and a few pints. Came in at a fraction over £50, which has to be some kind of record for a Wetherspoons pub!

The champagne was warm too. The had to dig it out of the cellar and it was covered in dust.

Worst ever round? The last time I went back to the UK - the short measures were unbelievable short and we worked out that to get a similar measure as our local here in Spain would have cost over £15 ...

Then make your order with no ice. Spanish measures are based on 3 ice cubes and the shot is usually up to the 2nd cube. It works out to about a treble British measure but come on, Spainish Gin? Have some self respect Mike.

The tourist bars tend to use the ice as a guide; the local bars are far better as they have the "7-second pour". I once ordered a Cacique with a mixer and the Cacique was poured ABOVE the THIRD ice cube before the coke was added! Needless to say ... I got myself very ****ed!!

Spanish Gin is OK, Seb! You kinda get used to it!
