Worst Ever Overseas X1

Talking with some fans last night and the subject of "A worst players from abroad team" came up. Not including players from other parts of the UK or Ireland who could go into it?

Petr Belsvik (though he did play in Div 1) was one and I remember Peter Dursun's "game" against QPR. Lars Unger!
Anymore?

I wonder who MtS will have his 'eye' on?

Amazingly, Peter Belsvik is the highest ever goalscorer in the Norwegian top division. Standard there must be pretty high then

Dominic Iorfa is another one to add and as OS says, let's allow Matt to nominate a certain Dutch striker who used to play for Wet Spam.

In terms of ability Boere was a million times better than fans favourites such as Rawle and Belgrave.

If we are judging players on ability rather than attuitude and application then Boere was one of our best overseas players.

I'm sure there's a valid point to argue that a player with bags of ability brings questionable worth to a team when his application and attitude stink to high heaven!

Likewise, we've seen a number of players who don't have the greatest ability in the world become invaluable additions to the team because of their attitude and application.

I think it's unfair that Boere gets singled out for criticism when he played in a team with it's fair share of boozers and wasters.

I would have to go with Roger nzamba!! the amazing Zairian? player got on the pitch for about 2mins got injured and never played again.A real class act!!

Good Call.

The 'keeper that played about 2 matches last season (Patterson was it?) - was he an Aussie? Anyway he was poor.

To be honest, if you put all our foreign players together it doesn't add up to much, so it is hard to pick a specifically 'bad' eleven. However, I agree that alongside the 'riches' of Dursun, 'Pepe' N'Diaye and Belsvik it is going to be hard for all-action-hero Boere to get a look in. Centre-mid for me would pair up Adem Poric with sadly, John Neilson (that second half versus Charlton on boxing day 1996 was the worst display I've ever, ever seen). However, on the account of having one French parent can I include Phil Gridelet? In goal Tony 'Jimi' Hen(d)riksen must get the nod even though he wasn't that bad. N'Zamba should definately occupy a wide berth (he could have been an all time great- we'll never know) but after that I'm stumped. However it is surely no coincidence that all of these toilet players originate from the same 'era'.

But even in that 2 minutes N'Zamba contributed more to the cause than Sada N'Diaye and Dominic Iorfa ever did.

I nominate John Keeley who was from Canvey, which is clearly NOT a part of the UK....

Guy Roger N'Zamba was indeed from the Gabon (and is by all accounts a bit of legend). He played in several African Nations and World Cup campaigns for 'les pantheres'. His former clubs include Mulhouse (Fr) and Triestina (Italy).

I am not an anorak, I got it all off of Google.

Cheers.

He's certainly a legend at Roots Hall. We must have had many players who put in 50 or more appearances and are totally forgotten. N'Zamba, in a mere 2 minutes, assured that his name will live on forever.

Shock! I've just figured out Hawkwell Blue's dark, sinister plan.

He is another 'Bart is an Embo' poster. In fact, I bet he is also know as 'Oh for another Ron Pountney'.

I will explain:

Bart is Dutch, right.

Hawkwell dupes us all into naming the worse Overseas XI and then, after 1 league game, he digs this thread up... dusts it down... and suggests Bart is added.

And this, even though Bart plays a blinder, makes a dozen world class saves, thus helping us to a 1-0 win.

Admit is HB... you have been rumbled.

Lars Unger was a god player and destroyed Orient (Which aint hard ) in the 3-0 victory which Neil Campbell scored two and Mel saved a pen.

Lapper was the best i think as he was class. Boere did a job and was in a cr*p team. John Neilsen was a great striker of the ball but lacked fitnes I think.

Personally would go for I-awful as the worst overseas player altough I am suprised Yemi never got a mention as Alan Litlle once said hed be a premier played in 2 years....Sadly for Yemi it was Ryman Premier tho.
