They would not put 5 back, but yeh I agree with your principle[b said:Quote[/b] (RobM. @ Dec. 02 2006,20:53)]Exactly. Head the ball out as Gower did 4 times today and it came straight back. It's not rocket science.
Think on this. Concede a vorenr (it happens). Leave Eastwod up, they put 2 back.
Leave Eastwood , JCR and Bradbury up they'll put 5 back!
Head corner away then we're on the attack!
Or am I dim?
no you are not.[b said:Quote[/b] ]Or am I dim?
Its not lazy coaching, its a deliberate policy.[b said:Quote[/b] (Rayleigh boy @ Dec. 02 2006,20:54)]looks like lazy coaching - something that clearly needs addresssing and rethinking and no-ones sorted it out -
Annoying 'fact' getting in way of good rant alert!!![b said:Quote[/b] (OiRef @ Dec. 03 2006,09:07)]Its a response to when earlier in the season we were conceding lots of goals from corners. Agree that it would be good to leave somebody up field, but I'm sure you will correct me if I'm wrong ;-), we haven't conceded a goal from a corner or the resulting balls back in, since we adopted this policy.
I would imagine we also haven't scored from clearing a corner all season either, or had a decent chance owing to our entire 11 camped in our penalty area.[b said:Quote[/b] (OiRef @ Dec. 03 2006,09:07)]Its a response to when earlier in the season we were conceding lots of goals from corners. ...but in the contrary (and this is a weak argument!) how many goals have we scored on the counter from a defensive set-piece.[b said:Quote[/b] (OiRef @ Dec. 03 2006,09:07)]Its a response to when earlier in the season we were conceding lots of goals from corners. It's not. We have been doing it all season. And, for that matter, so have most teams (at a guess 75%) in the entire football league set-up. I believe, as I have said on here ad nauseaum that this is a coaching fad exported from the UEFA Coaching Badge schools.[b said:Quote[/b] (OiRef @ Dec. 03 2006,09:07)]Its a response to when earlier in the season we were conceding lots of goals from corners.
