Morning all,

Im having nightmares with installing Windows back on to my laptop and the various means i have tried have been unsucesful. I have managed to get it on to my machine but need to activate it within 30 days. I am unable to do this as the copy of windows pre installed onto my laptop is no longer there and a version i have aquired has already been registered onto another machine.

Can anyone help?

Think thats your best bet Matt.
Its just the registration code you need for it.

Your laptop should have a sticker with the registration code on that was used in the original installation.

it does but i have today been advised that the number on the bottom of the laptop is a dummy and cant be used.

i tried it last night and it does seem to be the case.

When you tried the number on the laptop case did you get a message appear telling you to phone Microsoft to get a new activation number?

it did, (id had to istall windows from a friends disc) on the phone i was told that because the code given to me had already been activated, i couldnt use it
