We all welcomed him back with open arms and a lot on here said we had no chance of signing him.
Yet we did and there was jubilation.
I don't really buy the, ' he was't a Sturrock signing' line that gets churned out.
I know he has struggled with fitness but how much longer will he be happy to sit on the bench ?
He may have signed to put himself back in the shop window for a bigger move next season. That is just not happening for him. He is not even first choice sub when a striker is replaced.
I do wonder what is going through his mind at the moment and what the future is for him.
He is 29 now and will realisticly only have a few years left.

Another three years at least if Coventry is anything to go by.

The more pertinent question is how long we're prepared to wait for him to find his hunger, before trying to off-load him.

How do you know that he has any issues with his "hunger"?

At the end of the day, neither Eastwood nor Corr can have any complaints about being left out of the side whilst Tomlin & Assombalonga are in the sort of form that they are in.

I just don't think he has the kind of ambition he used to have and is quite content to be at a club where he feels comfortable and in his own home area. Job satisfaction to an extent if he's happy and I think he is. Not everyone wants to play at the top and if he's on a wage he's happy at for the time being then I would think that'll suit him. The question will arise more at a time when - and if - his contract is up for renewal or otherwise.

I worry for him, i thought he deserved to come on for the last 5 or so mins as Tomlin looked shattered (and injured)

I looked into his eyes and saw Steve Wignall.

He never had any ambition....doesn't particularly like football hence giving up once before. Great when he was here before, now a liability....get rid!

A little harsh. Ido agree Fred has in the past not been totally in love with the game, but to say he is a liability, he is hardly that.

He had plenty of ambition hence he left for Wolves.

There's lot of very insightful comments on this board, which sound very much like wild assumptions without any substance.

I personally want Freddy in the side, but at the moment that rightly wont happen because Tomlin and Assombalonga are delivering the goods.

Thought that most of the problems in the games he has played ,was to do with poor service.Would like to see him with the current midfield formation, think you might see a Freddie of old

If Eastwood thinks that he currently should be starting he is as deluded as some people on this forum ! Tomlin deserves his current change of fortune for all the hard work he put in prior !

I for one hope that PS doesn't need to make any changes in foreseeable future (cup ties apart) as this means our run has continued and the loaners have remained !

"put up with" implies you are not being treated fairly. I don't understand what he is putting up with?

Well I am just thinking what his expectations would have been when he signed for Southend. I suspect that he thought he would be one of the main players in our team as he was droping from playing at a much higher level. I know he was not getting in the first team at Coventry on a regular basis, but it was not that long ago he was a welsh international player. I am thinking he dropped down to re-launch his career. I might be wrong, but as I watch him run up and down that line warming up on a Saturday and looking keen to get going. I wonder how demoralising it must be either to not get on or get 5 minutes. I agree our 2 forwards are playing out their skin at the moment and is probably why he has not got too upset. Just thinking how long that situation can go on.

At Wimbledon he sat on the bench a good 20 mins before start of the game and he looked right hacked off.
Time to go for me now as want to keep to the good memories

Put up with what exactly?

Tomlin and Britt being on form!?

I refer to previous post to answer that. But may be put up with is a bad way to put it. Another way might be , how long will a recent international and championship player be happy sitting on the bench week in and week out without getting a game in league 2.

What is the point of this thread ?
Eastwood , like Corr , Martin , Prosser is just another member of our 'currently decent' squad who cannot get into a team that's playing well and scoring lots of goals.
How long will Corr 'put up with it' , how long will Prosser etc.
All decent players - why is he being singled out as being special ? *

* no references to past glories please

I'm known to not be Eastwood's biggest fan this time round but I wouldn't get rid. Eastwood's time will come and he well do a job for us.
