Wiggy's ratings!

wiggy

Darryl's Love Child
Flavs 7 couple of decent saves behind an inept defence
Jupp 4 O.G and all over the shop
Barratt 5 caught in possesion for goal and what has Che ever done wrong?
Sodje 6 Quality or dodgy, would rather have the reliable Eagle package any day
Prior 5 Eagle comment again, fell over his own feet and looks a bit of a donkey at times
Bents 5 Unusually out of sorts and taken off
Gutts 4 more required than this if you are gonner penetrate teams
Maher 6 not great and thought it was a looping night, waste of time
Gower 7 one of the only ones to look lively in the first half
Freddy 8 worked hard and basically had to do it all himself
The Goat 1 one of the worst contributions i have ever witnessed in a Blues shirt, hang the boots up now!

Although I'm sure Wiggy will be slated for this - s/he's right. Goater was absoloutely dreadful and I struggle to remember one pass he made to Blues shirt, nor one header that he won. Most other players were little better, with only Darryl, Freddy and possibly Sodje and Maher coming out with any repect. Very bad night.

Never thought I would say it but fully agree with Wiggys marks. Think I must go to bed now as that cant be right.

totally agree. the goat was poor, bentley offered nothing down the right. barret went walkabouts far too often.

cole, bradbury, and wilson all need on saturday in place of bentley, goater and barret.

Lets be fair, before tongight only 1 goal conceded since Sodje joined. As barrett struggled to play left back shouldnt we bring back Che and play Barrett with Sodje?
Lets not get too disheartened, when we thrashed Brentford at home it ust have been a bad time for their fans, but look at their league postion now.
It can all change so quickly.

jeez, one defeat in 13 and you want wholesale changes. One word that sums it up is "Perspective" - we're top of a league we'd thought we struggle in so get real.

What surprised me about the goat yesterday was that he didn't read the game at all. He was continually where the ball was not!

How did these Brentford fans felt when we whoop them 4-1 last month ...... they got their revenge, so draw it under line & move on. We won't be a bad side overnight, the reason why Barrett come back as left back, because he done well in our last 3 away game in that postion, that why he was in the team last night.

we had 6 players having bad game, if that happen agasint a 4th placed side, we are in trouble.

Sorry, Wiggster - have to say I completely disagree with you about that. Don't get me wrong - I was a big fan of Eagle - but the point that I've made on a number of occasions is that I've believed that when Spinner plays, the defence ticks; and when he doesn't play, it doesn't tick nearly as well.

The figures for league game results seem to back me up - not least because, usefully, Eagle and Spinner essentially did not appear in the same side.

Eagle P19 GA22 (i.e. 1.2 goals conceded per game)
Spinner P13 GA8 (i.e. 0.6 goals conceded per game)

In other words, the defence was twice as porous when Eagle played as when Spinner plays.

Paradoxically, I tend to agree with you that Eagle's personal performances have probably been better than Spinner's personal performances this season. But this isn't about personal performances; it's a team game.

And whether you like it or not (invariably not, knowing you!) the defence, as a unit, plays better when Spinner is there than when Eagle was there.

Matt

3 changes after a match in which we looked very shakey at the back with very littlemidfield and an ineffective strikeforce (despite Freddy's best efforts) seems entirely called for. If we leave things as they are, MAYBE the players will make up for last night but if I was the manger I wouldn't want to take the risk that they would play just as badly as last night.

I agree with Wiggy on all those except Bentley getting a higher mark than Goater! I'd have marked them both a 3.

Thought Bentley looked every bit a Conference player last night. First time I've EVER thought that! And Goater, after having two good games using his experience well was shocking. Didn't read the game at all (from what little came the way of the front two).

How these two stayed on the pitch for over an hour each, I just don't know.

But what if it was Sodje and Barret in the middle with Wilson and Hunt as full backs.
Wilson only lost his place when he was banned, although unspectacular he hasnt really done much wrong this season.

I would like to see Wilson at Right Back, Juppy always seems to make one bad mistake in a game.

Also how much do we miss Wayne Gray, he never stops running and without him the opposing defenders have an easy ride.

Nothing like a sense of perspective
That is what he seriously deserves, 1 for turning up. Probably touched the ball 5 times and it was like playing with 10 men, even if most of the others were off colour!

I am not defending the Goat one way or another.
But he is a player who thrives on service, therefore if he is not given the ball, then he can do bugger all with it. This is common sense.

Having said that I felt that the Goat was treading water in the 2nd half against Rotherham, and Bradbury is probably a better option at the moment.
