Why? Why? Why? Delilah

* ORM *

Still Loves Emma Bunton. Roy McDonough is God!
Why ? What's the relevance ?

Though I must admit 5 or 600 hundred signing it sounded loud enough.

One day we'll get a (decent) song of our own.

According to a fanzine I read during my time in Stoke, some well-known 'character' started singing it in the Boothen End at the old Victoria Ground and it just caught on. As far as I know there is no cultural or historical relevance.

....................and completely pointless, just Like Stoke.

When they start awarding points for singing then we need to worry, until then just sit back and enjoy.

I was really impressed with the first rendition. Got a bit bored after that! I did like the way that around half of them sung "ha ha ha ha ha" after "she stood there laughing" though.

I thought it was a bit naff TBH - if you're going to pick a random pop song then you should at least find something with a bit of relevance to your club. Maybe they should have been singing one of the Take That songs after RW had left

saw the light on the night that I passed by her window
I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind
She was my woman
As she deceived me I watched and went out of my mind
My, my, my, delilah
Why, why, why, delilah
I could see that girl was no good for me
But I was lost like a slave that no man could free
At break of day when that man drove away, I was waiting
I cross the street to her house and she opened the door
She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more
My, my, my delilah
Why, why, why delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me delilah I just couldnt take any more

[insert trumpet solo here]

She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more
My, my, my, delilah
Why, why, why, delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me delilah I just couldnt take any more
Forgive me delilah I just couldnt take any more

WOW another M-crue fan!! I don't meet many

In the seventies, the North Bank used to finish every home win by singing "Singing the Blues".....

I never felt more like Singing the Blues
When Southend win
And Col U lose
Oh Southend
You got me singing the blues

A bit obvious but it worked well. Spolit by Arsenal who changed the words to gassing the jews...most unsavoury!!!

Man City sing Blue Moon

In the early 80's when I used to do the matchday announcing, I used to play the instrumental bit of ELO's Mr Blue Sky (Mr Blues Guy) but it never caught on either.

Still think In the navy, but there ya go!!!!

Alex Harvey's version was brilliant...........
agreed. Absolutely nothing to do with Blues so I'll probably get a red/yellow card but I'm a great Led Zep fan, have been since I saw then as a 16 year old in 69. Have a look at Jimmy Page's house for all you gothic revivalist nuts. It's all original by the way.

Speaking of on the delilah tune subject

I remember waiting outside the Withdean during the 2000/01 season, new years day game that we won 2-0

About 75-100 shrimpers waiting in the car park area and none other than Des Lynam pulled up. As he walked across the car park some joker started singing the delilah tune but instead using Des Lynam's name. Fantastic the rest of us joined in, the look on Des Lynams face was great

Oh the happy days eh
