Why we WILL be going up!

South Bank Hank

⭐⭐🦐
Okay, we're all a little nervous and the focus of late has been on what can go wrong, and how we'll lose the next two games while both Col U and Brentford win their's with ease.

In the spirit of optimism, this thread is about why we're going to go up.

* We're still TOP and 4 points clear!!
* 2 points and it's GUARANTEED
* Brentford drop a single point and it's GUARANTEED
* Col U lose one of their last two and it's GUARANTEED
* Brentford and Col U's opponents in the next 2 games are DESPERATE for the points (so are the Swans but we only need just one of these respective matches to go our way)
* On that note we only need 1 of 6 key matches to go our way and it's GUARANTEED
* The pressure on Col U and Brentford will be more than it is on us. They HAVE to win their games. We don't HAVE to (although it would be damn friggin' NICE!!)
* As much as we'll be looking over our shoulders at Col U and Brentford, they'll be looking over theirs at Huddersfield.
* Brentford have injuries to key players. They WILL be affected.
* Swansea's form is appalling. Keep them quiet and the crowd will get on their backs while we'll have fantastic support!!
* We win against the Swans and we're up. We lose and then face a Bristol City side whose season will be finished if Barnsley can also win at home to Bradford. (Contrary to popular opinion, Donny last week still had an outside hope of the play-offs)
* We are playing better away from home than at home at present so we can clinch it at Swansea
* Freddy is desperate to finish the season as top scorer (if he ever did need any more motivation)
* Even despite the recent poor run, we've still been creating chances
* Both Brentford and Col U have tough away games on the final day
* Col U have dropped 5 points from their last 3 away games and are wobbling just like us. They need to win against a Yeovil side who've scored 9 goals in their last 4 home games.
* Brentford have dropped 4 points from their last 4 away games. We only need them to draw in their fixture with Bournemouth.
* Generally speaking, when we've needed the other teams to slip up this season, that's just what they've done.

I'm sure I'm missing something?

Don't want to be a harbinger of doom but Bristol City have plenty to play for. They are just 3 points off the playoffs with 2 to go. If they win tomorrow, they'll have loads to go for next Saturday, even more than Donny had.

But, one thing you neglected to mention is that neither Swansea or Bristol City are bogey sides for us, whereas Donny quite definately are.

Hmmm, seems you might be right. I was looking at Swansea in the final spot but forgetting Barnsley above them. If the Swans beat us, then Bristol City will be reliant on Barnsley dropping points. (Barnsley are home to Bradford).

I've changed it. If Swansea beat us and Barnsley win too, THEN Bristol City will have nothing to play for.

Thanks SBH, just when nerves were starting to creep in I suddenly feel much better

Bottom line is whilst its squeeky bum time for us not to go up theres a lot more thats got to happen than is needed for us to go up.

We only need one game out of 6 to go our way, whether thats a win for us or a draw for brentford or a loss for col U.

For us to finish 3rd means us losing 1 game, and at best drawing the other Brentford winning two and colu at least winning and drawing.

Its going to be stressful if they both win tomorrow but it just needs one game to go our way !

I'm going to print that list out and get the missus to read it to me over and over again in a calm voice when I have one of my 'episodes'.

I'm so nervous now, I think I'm going to be sick. It doesn't help that people in the office keep saying, "You're practically up now, aren't you, Slipperduke?"

NO, WE'RE f%&kING NOT, WE'RE NOT UP, WE'RE NOT, WE'RE NOT! LOOK AT THE TABLE!!!!

Sorry.

*vomits*

One thing you missed SBH is that both Col Ewe and Brentford are still looking over their shoulders at Huddersfield, which should add to their collected nerves.

Look behind you Bees and Ewes.

I've added that now - along with the fact that there will be even MORE pressure on Brentford and Col U to score goals than us. The longer each game goes on without a goal, the more edgy the get. The more edgy they get... well you know the rest!

Lets hope one of them screws up tomorrow. Dont want to go to the last game still knowing we could drop to 3rd, even if they have failry challenging matches.

Indeed, if they draw either game we go up. Brentford winning and col u drawing doesnt guarantee anything.

Sadly, Dave, my bet was on us finishing in the playoffs. And I have never been happier to lose!
