Why oh why would you hand this over to the police

The cash arrived in a box at the house in Aylsham, Norfolk, with the games console, but minus two games.

I love that line! Oh **** mum they've forgotten to send me Fifa and Football manager, they sent me this instead!

If he had kept it though, would he in some way be in the wrong for keeping it? I mean of course we would all want to keep that amount of money if it arrived through the front door for free, but there must have been a reason that they gave it back, would they have been doing anything wrong if they banked it?

Banked it Yes, Spent it No. This would of course invole informing the Police... who would no doubt rather they handled it for awhile. It would have to stay in an account for I think it is three years without claim ..then it becomes yours if no claim has been put against it with adequate proof.....Im sure Matt Knows more.

I don't think so, unless the money was the proceeds of criminal activity of some kind, in which holding on to it may be illegal.

Well in that case then I am sure that is why they gave it in to the police. If i had that happen to me and I kept it I would be constantly worried that someone would find out that I had it and I would have to give it all back after spending it. Think most people would feel like they had to give it in.

they did the right thing. Probably 95 times out of 100 this will have been laundered money! By keeping it you risk prison.

I liked the line where the woman who found the £135K, spent some of it on SEXY underwear! How could any underwear look sexy on that moose!!! :minger: I think she's related to Olive from On The Buses!!!
