Why I sit where I do at Roots Hall ....

Rayleigh boy

Director⭐
I go East stand with the missus cos there carpet in the bar but the West on my own or with mates cos theres more room to move around and you can just about have a smoke at half time .....

never given the south upper a go .....

so whats your favourite spot and why ?

We have sat in the same West Stand seats since the 1991/92 season. Force of habit now I suppose.

South Upper easily, I have sat in every stand at Roots Hall and think South Upper gives you the best view I have no restricted view either by pillars. Its a good atmosphere up there too.

South lower because it's cheaper when you're buying season tickets for yourself and juniors. Plus the leg room's pretty generous.

Although I've liked the view looking out on directly on to the pitch, however if the ball comes to the south bank on the opposite side to where you're sitting it's very difficult to see what's going on (it's been a few years since I sat there)?

If you're under 5'5" :p
I found South Lower almost as bad as Luton to be honest in terms of legroom.

First 5 rows have loads, behind that it's squashed. Honest, my dad's 6'3", the boy's 5'11" and I'm 5'9" and we all have plenty of leg room - it's the width that's the problem!

We don't sit there out of choice though but out of lack of funds to buy season tickets in the West! Sat in the East to watch the Col U beam back last year and had forgotten how little leg room there is over there.

Maybe it's the fact the old South terrace didn't have uniformity in terms of the depth of the terrace steps then? I'm 6'3" & I've struggled to sit comfortably in there, unless I've gone in the front row but as Al said, the view of the game from there is awful as you're almost below pitch level.

I'd say the West is probably the best at RH in terms of legroom.

I sit in the East Greens, due to the fact I simply prefer sitting "side-on" to the action, rather that behind the goal...

And also I am getting old, and can't quite see all the action in the North Bank area if I am sitting in the South Stand...
