Why Col u and not us?

Southend Elvis

First XI
When it comes to transfers or loans why do we always seem to pull the short straw and them toss pots up the road have no problems getting players in, I for one cannot see what more they have to offer than us?

Being top of the league

I agree in all seriousness, i have always wondered this, the players thatthey have got in on loan in the last few years really have been some very good player, and it does make me wonder what the offer behind closed doors

Great stadium? ummm. Ah-ha - Possible of playing Championship football next season? Nop. Us as well. A very good manager? umm. I will come back to you on this!

Tilly does hwoever sign players that only improve the squad. He could go out today and amke 4 or 5 signings that do not help the quality of the squad just the size. thats why I have faith in tilly in the transfer market. Col******r haven't boguht players that I would class as good as what we have. Plus they are possibly on the verge of losing their two best players anyway.

When you look at their crowd and stadium they must be offering something extra...... perhaps relations with a rather large flock of furry things...

Do we draw the short straw?
Freddy Eastwood, Luke Guttridge, Adam Barrett, Mitchell Cole etc etc.

Who before this season had heard of the likes of Danns, Iwelumo & Chilvers. To be fair Parkinson like Tilly has made some very shrewd transfers/loans. The major difference is that Tilly is a bit more conservative and prepared to bide his time more.

Have you ever played Football Manager 2006? in this game, to get sucess - you need to sign the 'right' player to improve the squad & help to take Southend to the next level. Since Tilson took over in Nov 2003 (fews days after we lost 4-0 at Yeovil) the team look so bad that even team like Mansfield thrash us 0-3 at home & showen we are behind them in footballing level, 2 years later, we are class above team like Mansfield & Orient. Its about getting players that is better than what you got. That what Southend & Col******r did.

Agreed totally with Murky Mouse...

I am keen for a signing or two but I must say no point getting someone in for the sake of it

Parky has a lot of very good contacts in the game and I think that helps a lot with signing good young players.
Phil and his scouting team of three go to around 4 or 5 Premier$hite reserve games a week.Thats where he finds the young talent he is keen to get in on loan or sign on the cheap to sell off for a good profit later.
Thats where he found the likes of Danns (Blackburn), Garcia (West Ham) Fagan (Birmingham) Chilvers (Arsenal), Barratt (Arsenal), Yeates (Spurs), Hunt (Southampton) Halls (Arsenal)
Vine (Pompey) to name but a few

That's a very interesting comparison with our Eastwood (Grays), Cole (Grays), Gower (Barnet), Bentley (Barnet) and the others from teams at roughly the same level as us, Gutts (Cambridge), Wilson (B Rovers), Barrett (B Rovers), Sodje (Yeovil).  Obviously being a league below for a few years won't have helped, or having a crap manager like Wignall!

I would think the only player Tilly himself has brought to the club from a Premier$hite level team would be Petts.  Doesn't mean there's a huge gulf by any means as several of the players had started life at the likes of Spurs & West Ham but we do tend to pick them up after they've been elswhere.  But it does seem to show a different approch.

Yes season long loan, I think to put himself in the shop window for other clubs.
Tillson should be looking at these Prem. young lads for loans, you may only have them for a few months but they do make a big difference to small clubs like us two.
Obviously you do have the odd failure, the most recent one for us being Tierney from Man U last season, although he only lasted a month.Parky does look at the non league scene as well though and has found some handy young players like Elokobi.

Really I am surprised he is playing very well at the minute, maybe it is because he wants to impress someone
