Both out of being stuck in league 2, and the dead weight, who will be leaving the blues ahead of next season?
My votes on Mohsni/Hall/Phillips

Thoughts?

Desperate to keep grant, but otherwise I think we'll keep most players. Hall and Mohsni will stay I reckon

Grant will leave. I think his comments about this possible promotion making it worth staying meant he maybe wanted to leave if we didn't go up.

I think it will be a case of who can we afford to keep rather than who will we want to get rid of. Got a horrible feeling we banked on promotion this season from a financial perspective

Yeah, agree. It kinda resembles sh*t or bust from a financial point of view.

I don't think many players will leave except maybe Ferdinand and some fringe players. I don't think the POTY curse will strike because Phillips has broken his shoulder!

Unfortunately I suspect you're correct!

I Agree although the club has secured a number of season ticket holders for next year by cashing in when we was looking good for L1

Think Granty will receive some offers, sadly he is out of contract. He was our stand out player in the play offs matches.

Think we one year options to keep Mohsni, Kalala and Dickinson so thats down to us.

Phillips may get an offer as out of contract, but others out of contract then I reckon it will be a case of whether we want them or not.

Likes of Hall, Leonard, Clohessey, Timlin, Ferdinand (shame), Harris, Benyon (Even bigger shame), Martin are still under contract IIRC.

Personally I would release Barker, he has lost a yard this season and wasn't the quickest beforehand. he has struggled with one ball in behind all season and it's killing the side, also, just feel he is not a 'proper' captain and I would imagine he is on a decent wage that could be free'd up. Morris should be released too IMHO. Gilbert, depends on the Gaffer, Prosser is cheap and decent enough back up

Would expect Sawyer, Baldwin, Sturrock Jnr, Dailly, Flood, Paterson, Crawford and most ex-youths to be released.

Corr - maybe a short term deal if he can get fit.

Coughlan to get a coaching contract and non playing

Eastwood, Hills and Belford loanees

Granty was actually waving at fans as he walked round the pitch yesterday.

Think it is clear that was his last game for us.

No one knows the financial situation behind the scenes so hard to say. The signings made last season- Harris, Martin,Benyon and Timlin will all be on good wages so I imagine Luggy will be told he wont be able to get many in without shifting a few. The amount of out of contract players will help clear a lot of dead wood. Grant deserves to be in League 1 and has been a loyal player. Moshni will attract bids and Hall also but I feel he will stay and he must do really if we are to get out of this division.

Yep, he's definitely gone. I dont think any shrimper can deny he has earned a special place in our hearts for his loyalty over some very difficult years. Goes with everyones blessing I'm sure.

If we had gone up I would have had a list of who to get rid off but now we're not the list will be completely different. We have a massive squad and I can see a large amount getting released and some choosing to leave. I don't know who is and who isn't out of contract but these are my thoughts.

Morris - Release if we can sign Belford
Clohessy - Keep although may choose to leave
Gilbert - Release
Hall - Keep although may choose to leave
Moshni - Keep but can see him going
Grant - Keep but can see him going
Timlin - Keep and think he will stay
Harris - Keep
Patterson - Get rid
Corr - Keep based on fitness
Sawyer - Tough one but I would just about Keep
Ferdinand - Keep but can see him going
Martin - Release
Phillips - Keep
Prosser - Keep
Bently - Keep
Leonard - Keep
Kalala - Keep
Crawford - Release
B Sturrock - Release
Dickinson - Keep
Barker - another tough one but might just keep as a 3rd choice
Benyon - Keep although I don't rate him
Flood - Release
Hills (Loan) - Release
Belford - Try to sign up
Dailly - Offer a 1 year deal
Eastwood - Would love to sign but can't see it happening

I don't imagine the squad will change massively. It needs to be reduced that's for sure. I'd release Morris (if we sign Belford), Baldwin (just looked at Exeter's last 2 matches - they conceded 6 and he was subbed in both), Dailly, Nesbitt, James-Lewis, Stevens, Smith, Crawford, Paterson (thank god) and Sturrock. Change Coughlan's contract to a managerial one. It's difficult to assess the youngsters because we're not in a reserve league but I trust Sturrock's judgement and if they were good enough then they'd be knocking on the first-team door. Asante's the only one I'd keep for another year because he's a pacey striker, which we don't have, and has scored when he's gone out on loan. I imagine Grant will leave as he's out of contract but I don't think any of our other 'stars' will leave. Hall is still under contract and I don't know if he's well-known enough for a League One/Championship club to splash out some money on him. Mohsni is too hot to handle.

Based on that, I'd say we just need another centre-back, a midfielder maybe on a season-loan from somewhere and another striker (if we don't sign Eastwood) in the summer. But knowing our turnover in recent seasons it'll be more than that.
