Who will be released at the end of the season?

SUFC Forever

Manager
I was wondering that as the season is now almost over, it must be in Tilly's mind who will not be retained for the next campaign now.

Obviously Paul Furlong will not have his contract renewed I would have thought and perhaps Douggie's time will be up as well due to him being out so long. Peggy Lokando, despite being the club's first international for many years must also be in the frame I would have thought as if he was going to get a game ever, this season surely was the time for this to have happened. Charles Ademeno must also be at risk of going too.

What do you all think?

I think Peter Clarke's the only senior player whose contract expires in the summer as we had a big overhaul last summer, so I can't see a lot of players going this summer. If Ademeno's contract is up I imagine he'll be released, might come back to haunt us.

i think furlong, lokondo, ademeno, scannell & masters will all go,clarke will be very hard to keep hold of & walker will also probably leave..would love to see sawyer come back & we need to good centre halves along with a left back,a creative midfielder & are cryin out for a natural left winger..

Agree with Furlong, Lokando, Ademeno and Masters but no way no Scannell (could be another Kightly and then we'd be all moaning.) I am confident that Clarke will sign a new contract as there are no other clubs that have said they are interested in him. We need a few more players, what we need most is an experienced left back (not too old but could help the progress of Herd), a natural left winger who is creative.

Walker and Masters. Yes, forgot about them. Can't see that we will release Walker for free however. Didn't we pay a reasonable amount of money for him? Around £150.000 I think?

Walker at Scanell both have contracts for next season so they won't go, as has Freedman.

We can only release players out of contract, so there's only Furlong, Clarke, Lokondo, Ademeno and Joyce who I believe fall into that category. Plus Forshaw's develop contract ends this season.

A week or so ago someone posted up when all the senior players contracts run to.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Walker sold at all.

Cant see that happening in the close season as he's been injured since the end of january, albeit he recently played in the reserves before going off holding his stomach. In this climate, clubs wont pay money for a player until he shows 100% fitness. I'm sure that when we originally signed him Ron said he was the most exciting young prospect he'd seen for a long time?.

That is probably right. Would be glad to see Walker go however, just do not rate him at all.

I can actually see Francis moving on. He's had chances to get his defensive act sorted but still can't work it out.

Other than that, probably Walker, Furlong, Scannell, Ademano & possibly Betsy.

Betsy is a journeyman and I do not think is the sort of player who will move us forward to promotion next season. Some of the games he has played in this year he has been woeful and if Tilly did let him go, I personally would not shed any tears.

Francis is another whose time is perhaps up. Not really been at his best all season and seems to drift in and out of games. If we got a reasonable offer for him I feel it would be to the club's benefit to let him go. Have to say that I was disappointed when Lewis Hunt was released last season and Francis was kept. Always thought Lewis was the better of the two though many people here will undoubtedly disagree with that view.

Scannell should stay - he has potential for sure but it is up to him to improve his fitness levels to really challenge for a regular starting position in the side.

I agree with you about Hunt, but Betsy has a contract for next season so can't be released.

Here's what I think will happen this summer in the outs department:
Furlong - released
Clarke - contract expired
Walker - sold
Ademeno - released
Forshaw - contract expired

I can see Joyce being given a new contract as I doubt we can afford another keeper and it would be risky with just Mildy and Masters. Don't think Francis will go unless he really wants to, we need to buy players in many other positions more importantly than right-back and he has got his place back. I think Dougie will see out his contract with us, can't really see him leaving early. Scannell and Betsy are both good back up players or players to push for a place and in our winger problems currently I can't see either leaving unless a club makes an offer that is big enough to buy a good replacement with, can't see them being released

Think that Ian Joyce has done more than enough to earn a contract for the back up keeper's spot. He has done all that has been asked of him on the three occasions he has appeared in the first team this season and it would be harsh indeed if he was released. Think Masters will probably stay too but be loaned out again (perhaps to a Conference club) to gain more experience.

Joyce wasn't considered good enough when Mildy was injured for a lengthy spell and so Federeci was brought in. The question over Joyce is whether Tilly regards him good enough to push Mildenhall for a start. I don't think he is and surely we want competition for all positions.

That was a lot earlier in the season though, Joyce has done ok when called upon and I hope he his offered a new contract. I can't see Franno going unless he requests it, he was one of the contract rebels last year who actually DID sign.

I am slightly suspicious over the James Walker situation, saw him at the training ground back in February, and ok, he wasn't training as such but he was out there and in training kit. Didn't look much wrong with him to me, no strapping or anything and we aren't getting much information about the state of his injury.

Did you not hear about Walker?

you made him a cake and he choked on it and died

Thanks allot!!

Next season we'll have 5 strikers (Dougie, Revs, Barney, Laurent & Walker).

5 senior strikers is too many at this level, i know most of them are prone to injurys but i can see Walker "converted" to a wide player, he has the speed and the skill to beat a man (remember his 97th goal at bOrient) & could also be moved up top if we get hit by injurys....
