The Business
Tilly says on the OS that he has his eye on a quality left back who will be a good cover signing for us. Having been built up to be let down too many times I have no doubt at all that we will not sign anyone at all.

Do you have faith in us in this six pointer to have enough sense and clout to get someone in or not. Yours votes please. Who will be left back come Friday.

hopefully will get an actual left back in before fridays game but you know what we are like with transfer and signings! i voted barrett to play left back

Thank God we've got a rightback. Lee Cook on their left is a different gravy. We need to give him a good shoeing early doors.

Back to the studio, Jim.

Oh, Che, please. Is he still here?

unless the proposed fullback has been training with us and we are just formalising the paperwork Friday i'm going with...........Ads

Nigel Winterburn anyone....

Where's the Steve Tilson option?

He said jokingly after the Stoke game he might just have to dust off the old boots for a couple of games :D

What a sight that would be. Tilly marshaling the troops from on the pitch ;)

I think it would be brilliant to see tilly playing in the team again! ! if not we could always go for Chris Powell or Steve Hatter and come to think of it Peter Morris as manager again ! ! !:fart:

Voted Adam Barrett. Would like to see an actual left back there, but I think at this sort of notice the safest bet would be Barrett as he knows his team mates thus the side would stay relatively settled.

Will be interesting to see how QPR line up against us and what effect that might have on our line up during the game.

My boss is a Hoops and tells me that in their 3-1 win last weekend they played a sort of last season Chelsea tactic line up with Dexter Blackstock up front on his own with Lee Cook & Gareth Ainsworth, normally their wingers, playing off him in that Robben/Cole position. Probable that Gregory won't be that bold away from home but who knows, based on it's success on Sat.

Ever the ray of sunshine ...it's Hooly...

Just when I was getting used to the idea of AB at LB...

Trust you to factor in the opposition....

I take it, then, that you were not one of the handful of foolhardy souls who travelled up to Macclesfield on 1st March 2003 to witness what, I believe, was Tilly's last performance (*) - certainly his last start - in a Southend shirt.

It was, I have to say, one of those moments when you realise sometimes that memories are golden because they're in the past, not the present. Sadly, Tilly was a shadow of his erstwhile self that day...

:(

Macclesfield Town 2 - 1 Southend United

(*update: Tilly came on in the 88th minute of our 1-0 home defeat to Oxford, when the scorer was none other than Oh Judas, I mean Oh Marky Rawle - but Macc Town was certainly the last time Tilly started and played most of a match for the Shrimpers)

Given the weather, I'd stick Barrett there. Not going to be the day for pretty football so he'd probably do a better job.

Also, with the news that Hammell may only be out for "as little as a week", I'd stake money on there being no loan left back move.
