Who should we be looking for?

BoyWonder2

2024, the year of the Shrimpers ⭐🦐
There seems to be a load of threads with people saying we should sign this guy, this guy, we've missed out on these guys etc. I thought I'd make a thread where you can say what we require, and who should be or could be brought in in that position.

An experienced centre half - I see Jody Cradock turned down Swindon today, from Wolves. I think his 33, certainly got the experience and is Club Captain at Wolves. Another one I mentioned in the summer was Gary Breen. He signed for Barnet in the summer, but fits the bill of the type of player we need. Finally, Chris Lucketti from Huddersfield. Signed for them in the summer, but I'm sure I read he has fallen out of favour there. Could be looked at.

Left back - Despite Herd doing very well for us, I still think a left back needs to be brought in. You don't want to ruin a potential star by going through a relegation battle with him. The name mentioned the other day was Borrowdale. He fits the bill of the type of player we need.

Left winger - Matty Ritchie was mentioned by the Echo. Left sided midfielder from Pompy on loan at the Daggers. Scored again at the weekend, think thats 7 for the season now.

Creative midfielder - Bradley Johnson from Leeds. May not be possible now that his back in the Leeds side, but is the type of player we need. Could also play on the left hand side of midfield and left back at a push. Very good on the ball.

Forwards - Revell is out for the season, Freedman is still out, Laurent is out, Barney is due another injury soon (joking). Robinson looks lively, 16 goals last season at Hereford is impressive, but I'd like to see us go back in for Chris Dickson. Not sure how likely we are to get him as he came off the bench to score in the Cup, but did put a transfer request in there. Also, Liam Dickinson from Derby would be a dream signing, but I think it would be unlikely.

What about you guys? Who do we need, and who do we bring into those positions?

Someone who can helps us win a match, we have only won 1 game since october, to me that is just not good enough from a side that the chairman and management said was a play off challenging team.

I'm looking for a deaf and dumb nymphomaniac, whose dad owns a brewery, with a flat head and who will turn into a pizza at midnight.

I think my search is equally fruitless.

We should be looking for the players we already have in the side that go missing so often at match time. Round 'em up, ship 'em out! I would rather fall into lg2 having used youth players that WANT to be playing for our club than be relegated or survive by the skin of our teeth with many of the current squad that are failing to give it their all. Poor form is when the things you do just go wrong but at least you are working hard to do them, whereas we have poor performers through being anonymous in a game.

spot on u read my mind.

should we be worried that you managed to fill up that much space with our problems

Thats not really helpful is it.

A lot of people are on here slagging off Tilson at the moment and this is the thread to show us what you think is wrong with the squad.

looks to me as if tilly has made it pretty clear all he wants are strikers. imo the defence looks weak as anything at the moment.

Trust me, his not just looking for strikers.

I'm guessing a question was asked in the post match interview about not scoring at home yet again how are you looking at addressing it and Tilly mentioned about a striker. It hardly warented a story to be honest.

Tilly is looking for all different types of players to improve the squad and just because the echo comes out with him wanting a striker theres up roar. He isnt going to buy players for the sake of it and if it means that the likes of ademeno, o'keefe get a chance for a couple of games then so be it. Our youth system is very good and we can see that from the games johnny herd has played. He has been the best player on the pitch for us at times and has been pleasing to see. We just need the likes of betsy and christophe to get the form back that they have had in the past and we aint that bad a team. The more people get on the backs the worse it becomes. Betsy was crap on saturday but doesnt help when you have people shouting abuse and moaning staright from kick off. Give the team a chance and give tilly a chance he'll get the correct players in.
