Who pulls the strings: Tilly or Brush?

Robbo

South Upper miserabilist
First of all I want to make it clear that I am wholeheartedly behind the current management team. What they, alongside Ron Martin, have done for the club and its supporters is brilliant.

I am just interested in what people think of the current set up. Not many teams seem to have assistant manager who appears in the spotlight (all right, just the OS and the Echo!) as much as Brush.

So, who's pulling the strings???

well Tilson is possibly the dullest interviewee ever so in a way i'm glad Brish does a lot of the interviews :p

I dont think theres anything to worry about. On Match of the Day, Alex Ferguson never does interviews, Quieroz is the one who always does the media stuff.

But Ferguson has vowed that he will never speak to the BBC again after some alleged slight that I can't recall.

Has Tilly been upset by the media at some point!?

Tilson pulls the strings but Brushy helps out by making the odd cup of tea, popping out to get the Echo and putting out the nets.

i think brushy and tilly work quite closely together as in a Manager and assistant manager role, as apposed to a manager and trainer. Tilly will make the final call.

Ahh ok then. Maybe Tilly just has things he'd rather be doing than doing media stuff then, so he sends Brushy out instead. Who knows?

I think Tilly probably has the final say in team matters, although it's very much a double-act: I don't think Tilly would have been so successful without Brush.

Good thread LB, but i think Tilly and Brush work very closely together especially earlier on in tilly's managerial career when he was just starting out and brush had that experience of 1st team management.

Well assistants pop up more than you would think, especially on match of the day, portsmouth and man united for example. I think Brush gives Tilson the exp he needs, he will help make tilson a better manager.

I agree Tilly has the final say but probably agrees with alot of Brushes views. Thats why they work so well together. I expect they have very few differences. Our success is likely to be down to an even blend of both of their ideas.
If Brush was the one pulling all the strings wouldnt he feel *****d off that his title contains the word "Assistant" and probably his salary reflects that too. I know I would be.

Its obvious Tilly isn't at all very good at the media side of things. hence why he's been saying the same stuff in every interview for the past three years.

How can you all criticise Tilly's media performances?

The lad has worked his socks off in media training. Without a doubt, he's given you all everything, and you know, I really fink he's given it 110% for you out there. We can't ask for more than that.

Without a doubt, you know, with that level of effort week in, week out, we'll soon turn it around I fink, starting with Port Vale on Saturday.

Doesn't everyone think it's rather odd that it's always Brush at the side of the pitch shouting instructions and Tilson tends to just stay quiet and lean on the wall in the dugout.

To me it looks like Brush is the one in control!

Fergie only gets off his chair to abuse the ref! As i have said before i am strongly led to believe that Tilly is the motivator and Brushy is the tactics man. having said that, i'm sure Tilly know's what is going on and he suggests things also. Great management duo and i don't think we'd have been anywhere near as successful with just Tilly or just Brush, they make a good pairing.
