Saw that he trialled last night for us. A google search of his name produces no results (it just suggests that I might have mistyped "Willie Wonka"!).

Anyone know who he is and where he comes from?

Willy Fondja (* 22.

French defender, played for Maribor in Slovenia

Interesting. Maribor are a decent enough club.

I'm assuming as he was subbed quite early that he won't be back though. Don't suppose anyone went to Farnborough............

Or maybe he was just so f*cking good our management wanted to keep him under wraps for saturday's big kick off.

And splendidly (but probably not accurately!) translated by Google from German Wikipedia as follows:

At the beginning of 2008 he moved to FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt in the regional league, then Germany's third division. He came to ten bets and qualified with Erfurt for the new 3rd Liga . League. Although Erfurt would have kept him happy, he left the club in the summer after only half a year

I love these online translations!

Well, he played as a midfielder rather than a defender, and I thought that he probably would've made a decent centre-half! That said, his tackling was pretty reckless, and his distribution wasn't great. It's probably unfair to judge him on just the one performance, but with so few reserve team matches, it's difficult to give him another opportunity.

I was much more impressed by our centre-back pairing of Ade Osifuwa and Callum Whittaker, two first-year scholars who were pretty untroubled by Marcus Richardson, someone who has reasonable experience in the Football League. 15-year-old Osifuwa had obviously listened to both Ricky Duncan and Dean Austin, who both gave him one-to-one tuition after an off-key display at Norwich last week.
