As a season ticket holder I was lucky to be with the Southend masses behind the goal. I was just wondering how many Southend fans there were scattered around the ground and was there any reaction when we scored / at the end. I know if I was in other stands I would have struggled to keep a lid on it.

Friend of ours was right on the half way line with his kids.they celebrated wildly when the goals went in and were told off by a steward.my abiding memory was seeing the three boys still going for it at the final whistle.

We saw nobody in the home ends celebrate the Southend goals certainly not the hundreds predicted, we never even noticed the family mentioned above however I don't blame them for celebrating.

My mate was on the half way line and managed to keep a lid on things......not sure how. Inwardly having a laugh at all the moaning going on around him.

I was in the jobserve stand next to their fans , it was great celebrating right next to them, and waving them off as they left early.

Some odd stewarding yesterday when they moved a col u family into our section of the East stand.

There were two old blokes near the away fans in E2 who were gesturing towards us at the end that they were Southend fans. Didn't notice any celebrating when we scored though.

It was threatened that any Southend fans found in home ends would be thrown out, so how do you know there weren't hundreds? They were hardly going to turn up in Southend colours and celebrate in the home ends knowing they'd get kicked out. You wouldn't have been able to tell if those not in Col U colours were your fans or ours.

Colchester's number of supporters even when they are doing well,is about 3,000 at most. This explains why 2 and 2/3rds of the ground was so deathly quiet yesterday- it was populated by Southend fans determined not to catch the stewards' attention and large numbers of neutrals who'd come to see if Blues could break any scoring records.

You could. Our fans were the ones with 5 fingers on each hand ! :winking:

Who knows there might have been hundreds but I doubt it, the number officially mentioned 2200 odd, is a decent percentage of your average home support in itself.

To be honest re the comment above not noticing fans in other stands celebrating when we scored, I was so lost in the moment going mental I wasn't thinking about looking for others. There seemed to be pockets of fans at the end clapping our players off, I'm assuming these were SUFC fans.

At least 20 Southend fans in E4, all standing by the front wall at the end clapping the boys off and some filming the celebrations.

Colchester fans are so poor home and away they won't bring 1000 to us in feb my millwall mate said there wernt even 300 when they went there a few weeks back

If that's the case then we should claim back as many tickets as possible and have 10k+ home fans.

According to the programme they took 442, still crap for a fairly local game. For Gillingham tomorrow they have advanced ticket sales of 200. Would expect them to bring at least 1000-1500 to us though.

I remember the last time we played them at home there was two empty blocks at each end of the north bank! Was so shocked they didn't bring more. I reckon a 1,000 tops for the next match.
