Blue tinted optimist⭐🦐
Since the collapse of the SZ forum last week and the subsequent 4 day absence, two other boards popped up to serve the sufc gossipmongers who need their daily fix of Blues related news.

Having three boards is too much. We really want just the one. I've posted this on all three boards so that everyone gets a chance of seeing it.

Here's my take on the 3 boards and sites..

Shrimperzone - Fans Forum is definitely the most used and is really what the site is all about... the community. We are all there for a purpose and even though you don't get to meet many Zoners face to face (well, I don't - apart from the ones you know of course) there is a real kindred spirit and you feel like you do actually know the on-line persona. There is now an obvious link between SZ and the club with McScriven being the media editor and the fact that the match programme (which, this year, I think is fantastic) is written partly by Zoners. The fact that the main pages are updated so infrequently show me that most Zoners only look at the forum.

Official site's forum - I mainly visit the offical site for news. That said, the forum looks pretty good! Space is unlikely to be an issue so the crashing we sometimes encounter on the Zone probably won't occur. However, I am a little concerned that if the club don't like some of the stuff posted they could simply shut it down.

Shrimpers on-line - Hmm... not sure. The other sites LOOK more professional and I get the impression that if traffic did increase substantially then they would suffer in the same way that the zone has done.

So... my preference is the zone.

Has to be the Zone, the original and still the best! Full marks to Scriv with the official site's forum and it certainly served a purpose whilst this site was down. However in the same way that I prefer fanzines to programmes (or matchday magazines as they seem to be called nowadays) I will always rather post on an un-official site than an official one. I may be wrong and doing the club a dis-service but I also feel we can speak more freely on here and criticise the club when it is justified to do so.

We are pulling out the plugs to make sure we are up 24/7 from now on and we have regular updates on the main site.

I've never previously bothered with forums, but having joined both the Official Forum and SZ in the past few days, I reckon SZ has the edge - it's livelier, and people seem to hold their tongue a bit on the official forum.

Why only the 24th July?

Maybe that's what caused all the problems in the first place!

(sorry Naps, couldn't resist)

Hmmm.......a poll on the Shrimperzone message board to find out which message board to use, us or 2 others.

Good job you said us FBM, or I may have had to use my moderator powers and ban you, you cheeky monkey

where was Rivals.net?

In Rivals' absence, I went for the Zone. I'm a pretty impatient poster and with SZ, particularly on weekdays, you are guaranteed a response within a few mins.

The problem the toher boards have is that SZ got here first and, unexpected or unpredictable events like server hackings aside, there is no real reason why you'd want to leave SZ.

For me, the officical site and SOL have to offer something different to attract the regular SZers away in order to differentiate the service and meet a new demand. Either that or learn to hack the SZ site and make it crash more!!

Incidentally, I have just done this with the Quick Reply bit

Anything but the Zone !

At least on the other sites postings that are not directly related to the forum in question or that could be 'deemed' to be 'inappropriate' will be dealt with accordingly.

My work's firewall won't let me access the official site! Therefore the zone has it for me!

I do like the shrimpers on line emoticons.

Can the official Message board have a forum where questions can be put to Ron Martin et al. I think Birmingham used to do it and Karen Brady would spend an afternoon answering them.

I like SZ message board best from force of habit, lets hope things can be sorted.

Pulling out the plugs could be why it was off-line for 4 days

Undoubtedly SZ though. In fact I don't think I've ever looked at the others...
