Front page headline - Prior not been paid £40k from the testimonial - money due for the charity, told it would be paid after the Millwall game, but still nothing despite them chasing. Says its disappointing after having never let the club down (Prior).

Prior confirms rumours of players not being paid on time and said club cannot survive on loans.

Chris Phillips grills King and King gives the most contemptuous answers possible.

Says he "cannot understand why fans are concerned", the story about players wages "not true" (said 1 player got 'accidently' deleted from the payroll and was paid late) and Prior "will be paid" but then has a pop saying it was all rushed last minute, crowd didnt turn up and Prior arrived 5 mins before kick off - dont see how that effects getting Spencer and the charity their money if there is 'no cash flow problem'.

The man is an arse.

If he thinks the story about the wages is not true, why not sue Prior?

Sorry to take what you've said out of context, but in all honesty I don't believe this is about showing courtesy. The fact that a charity and one of our truest servants are involved makes this all hard to swallow, but I don't believe there's many people in doubt about our stretched finances at the moment. Call me naive if you wish, but I'd like to think we'd have paid this up by now if it was feasible or possible.

This isn't the first and I'm certain it won't be the last piece of published evidence that we're scraping through right now.

If delaying the odd payment (no matter who that is to) and letting some of our fringe players out on loan is what it takes to get us through, then we should be prepared to do it. It really is about survival right now. In fact, you could argue it's been about that for many years - just like it has for many, many other clubs.

However, don't get me started on Mr King's PR skills.

How on earth does £40k accrue from his testimonial game. There were only about 800 spectators there which would mean that, even if it cost nothing to put the match on (which it didn't), we'd need to have spent £50 a head. I would have thought we'd have been lucky to break even on the match itself.

Is there perhaps some other money that's raised through a testimonial that I don't know about?

Geoff King is a disgrace, his answers to Chris Phillips in todays echo are nothing short of an arogant little man who believes the supporters havent and should not have a say in the running of their football club.

How funny would it be if no home fans turned up to game at Roots Hall this season, he would soon be begging us come back!!
