Where to holiday in january?

Tommy2holes

Life President⭐
Just wondered if anyone can give me any hints or tips on where to holiday in january.

Im not looking to fly more than 6-8 hours and it has to be fairly hot.

I know gran canaria is decent just want some other ideas

Thanks

Oman - 7-ish hours.
Jordan - 5 hours.

I've not been to the former, but my folks raved about it... beautiful scenery, and Muscat is a fascinating place.

Jordan is the mutt's nuts, IMHO - amazing history & sightseeing in Petra, Wadi Rum and Madaba:

as well as the ability to "swim" in the Dead Sea, and snorkel in the Red Sea...

My chief reservation about Jordan is that I don't know how hot it will be in January. Aqaba might be around 20 deg C, but the hinterland (Amman, Petra) will be cold (10 dec C), so might not be what you're looking for. You're pretty much guaranteed sun, though - January is a dry time of year.

Personally, I reckon May / June is probably the best time to go to Jordan - it'll be hot, but not excruciatingly so.

Worth checking out the Caribbean options.
Antigua - approx 6-7 hrs
St Lucia approx 7-8hrs
Barbados 6-7hrs
If you can go the extra distance, Grenada at 9-10 hrs is lovely - have been twice before in January.
If you can leave it to around the beginning of October, it is worth checking out offers, Virgin Holidays always have a big push then, and in the Sunday press - Telegraph, Mail on Sunday always have one off deals but you do have to be quick.
Happy choosing!

Las Vegas. Cheap flights and cheap accom, plus It's the "Adult Film Awards", in January, and you can meet and greet your favourite, er...stars!
