My Son, my brother, my dad and I went to our first game at Wembley, we all followed football but never really thought to support a team and just enjoyed the game. We had a great time even though the team lost and this changed our minds, as well as the fact we would have an excuse to escape the other half for a day! We now we all want to get season tickets and was wondering where is best to book at Roots Hall. My dad is quite old now and struggles to stand for long periods of time which is the only concern.

Thank you for the advice.

Congrats on finally finding SUFC, welcome to the zone. Glad our trip to Wembley has produced 4 new fans.

As for seating, it depends what view you prefer really. I sit in the South Upper, behind the goal, and love it there.

Welcome to SZ and welcome also to joining the ranks of Southend supporters! There are different opinions amongst us all as to the best place to sit. Depending on your dad, I would say probably best in South Upper on the West, depending on whether you want a sideways on view or one from behind the goal. North is probably best for atmosphere, but again, your dad may find that doesn't suit him. East is ok, but the leg room isn't great and you have the sun in your eyes for some of the time. Why not come along on Saturday and have a look?

Just as well the ground is all-seater then!

Welcome to the 'zone - you pays your money and you takes your choice at Roots Hall really. I guess first question is do you prefer watching from behind a goal (North and South stands) or on the sides (East and West)? The West stand (Shakespeare Drive entrance) has pillars that can impede your view from time to time (you get used to it) but the East can have you squinting into the setting sun. I've sat on all 4 sides and the west is my current choice but you'll find a warm welcome wherever you go. How old is your son? If 16 or under there are some good deals in the family stand (south end of the West).

I don't think you'll get a better answer than OBL's

If you phone the club, I'm pretty sure they can arrange for you to go into the ground and select the seats you like from what's still available. Welcome to supporting SUFC. It'll be a bumpy ride.

After watching us this season a car park season ticket will be your best bet! You'll probably see the ball just as much as if you had a ticket for inside the ground! ;-)

Hi welcome to sz. My father and i like south upper but all are good. Hope you enjoy your future visits to roots hall.

If you want a really good view: South Upper
If you want a good atmosphere: North
If you want somewhere between the two: West

Don't bother with the East. Either wooden seats or sun in your eyes.

Yes, they do this, or they did. My dad chose our seats when we moved from South Lower by being taken in and trying the view. As long as you don't pick a peak time to go, just ask at the ticket office and arrange a visit if necessary.

We all sit in the east stand yellows, good atmosphere half way between the half way line and away supporters, anywhere around row m is decent. Welcome to the club.
