I'm an old Evening Echo football reporter - 1974 to 1978 - and would love to know if anyone of you guys and gals out there know where any of the players from that era may be today. Perhaps they visit this site (you never know!!).
I got back to Roots Hall last year to see the Man United match, a fantastic evening. Bumped into Peter Taylor and Paul Clark - memories, memories!!
Let me know if you do....
Neil
PS: Sean Rafter was my best man and is still going strong, in private business.

Blimey I knew Sean and his brother, A few other local lads that did well then too Alan Gemmill, who eventually had that dire sports shop down Hamlet Court Road.. I think with Peter Taylor. Both of the White Brothers ...although it was only Ray who made it ..And the lad from Hockley, Darren somebody who ended up with Charlton.

didn't Alan Gemmill end up playing for Trinity. If he did, he lives in Hayling Island, and used to be an IT Director but is now semi-retired

Not sure Paul..I remember he did fairly well at Tottenham then sort of vanished, or I didnt spot him elsewhere....

Noooo Not him he played Centre half I think....

Yb will be sure to know.

The only Darren I can think of who played for us is Darren Blewitt, centre-half we got on loan from Wet Sham.

Darren Patterson, was I think a Charlton centre-half, can't think of any Southend connection. Darren Caskey was IIRC a Basildon boy, who did fairly well at Spurs in central mid then disappeared.

My mates Dad was on the books during the 1974-1975 season Rodney Harrington who later went onto be World No.1 PDC darts Champion, who is now working behind the scenes for the PDC.

I would have worked with your mates mum then....
