I wanted to reply to what I assumed was a reply to my post in that thread, only to find it had been closed.

I understand threads that turn abusive and have clearly run their course are closed but someone asking what the connection between Phil Brown and the Roslin was and him receiving a polite and accurate reply is hardly grounds for closing a thread.

If moderators don't agree with the general tenor of a thread, that is not a reason to lock it.

It was asked by someone using a second troll name. A tactic he often does using various accounts.

When you referee do you encourage players to question the ref's decisions and tell you how to do your job:winking:

More seriously it wasn't the final couple of posts that caused that thread to be locked - other than the penultimate post answering the question so there wasn't really anywhere constructive for that thread to go. If there is indeed more to answer on the Roslin, feel free to start a new thread on that topic.

If you want to discuss Phil Brown's future (or, maybe more accurately, lack of) at the club there are plenty of other threads on which it can be done so in a civilised manner.

Im With Mick on this one, If this was the case, why didnt you just delete the relevent posts... instead of the entire thread? as per normal.

Secondly, if your aware of "said poster" that operates under another names, wouldnt it just be easier to close the others down?? so he can only post in the one name (granted he could create another, and causing a bit of a cat & mouse game) but everyone would be more suspicious of some one that has 2 post only, hence when away fans "come in peace" etc join our forum.

Lets face it, it was tiresome thread that added no value to the forum.

I'm all for debate and discussion but that was just a waste of time.

The thread wasn't deleted, it was just locked to prevent pointless debatearguments (hint, hint) and bickering.

I'm not aware of "said poster" operating under different names.

I think this is a fair summation, notwithstanding Mick's usual pithy post.

The decision has been made so let's not be all Kevin Maher about it.

In which case may I ask the Mod's to delete the other pointless threads on here:

(In no particular order):

1. SUFC Promotion to the Championship?
2. Phil Brown, will he leave or wont he leave?
3. Dan Bentley, will he leave or wont he leave?
4. Jack Payne, will he leave or wont he leave?
5. Next seasons kit? (OMG!!...worst thread ever!.... I normally book my family summer holidays around this thread)
6. What if Barry Corr was still here?.. would we be in the premiership now?
7. Fossets Farm? (a particular favourite of mine... it's only been about 30 odd years.. and we are all still talking about it!!)
8. Onions in the burgers?.... (actually I take this back, this is a very serious & important debate...never mind Brexit!!)
9. Is Ron Lying to us all?
10. Loan's.. why bother? if we arent gonna play them.

Was always happy to explain a decision, preferably during a break in play !

More seriously it wasn't the final couple of posts that caused that thread to be locked -

In which case the final "And with that last post I think we're done here." could be construed as a little misleading.

Not particularly, I just wanted to reply in turn to a reply to my earlier posting. I am nothing if not civilised.

In that case Mick, send your response to a moderator and ask them if they will kindly allow the post to be made. I have done that once before when I was keen to respond to a comment on a closed thread.
