Whats going on !!!

Last week i used a public phone for the first time in probably 10 years, the battery had gone on my mob and needed to call a land line.

Thinking that 20 p would be enough for a quick call i went to make the call , how wrong was i , the swines wanted 40 p min , which i didn't have .

Now i'm not being a tight bast%rd but , what going on here
what happened to it being 10 p.

Boy i must be getting old

Duncan - get one of those pre-pay accounts. You can then go to a pay-phone, dial a freephone number, and the call is a lot cheaper. I'm with a company called First Telecom, who are pretty good.

I don't know when it went up to 40p (they kept that one quiet!), but I was likewise shocked when I saw that on a pay-phone the other week...

Just trying to work out the last time I used a payphone _ Reckon it must have been 1997 or something like that.

I remember them being 2p! I also remember waiting by a pay phone to accept a reverse charges call from a friend who had gone to live in South Africa! We were on that phone for hours, a couple of times a month!

I remember when they were free....Just A and B buttons ....and all you had to do was tap the number out on the receiver bridge..
