Whats All The Fuss About?

Ive been looking into where we was and how many points we have been on in the league after 5 games in the past 5 season's. When you look at it you notice how its not actually that bad atall.

Looking at this you see that back in 2004 the season we got promotion through the playoff's in League Two we was only on a miserable 2 points.

Then the season after that the league one championship winning season we was only one point better off at this stage, and at the end of it we won the title.

The year after that we was 2 points better off, but ended up relegation from the CCC.

Before i carry on into last season the point im making is that, all of these season we probably would have been saying exactly the same thing at this stage for the past 5 years, and only in one of those years have out worries come to fact at the end of it all.

Our last to seasons in League One we have been on 5 points and 6 points at this stage. Is that really such a big issue to hear comment of "Tilly Out" and to doubt our playoff/promotion credentials already.

A few of you might read this and see a flaw in it or not care what i think and still want to remain pessimistic, but for now il remain optimistic and enjoy the next few games.

Thats a cop out don't make excuses because we usually start bad there is no rule we have to be!!

But it's what we should be able to accept - not to get our expectations up too high too quickly. We've said before, it's rare that we're able to have a full squad in pre season training therefore it takes time for them to settle in and work together as a unit. Outcome is that there are still comings and goings going on for the first few weeks and we have trouble getting any decent results, so I don't think it is a cop out at all.

Im more annoyed about throwing Games away in the second half than only being on 4 points for example we've conceded 6 Goals (all comps) in the last 20 minutes and that gets pretty frustating.

We just seem to throw the game away in the 2nd half, our defence just seems to fall apart and we lose confidence. That is when we lose the game, that is when we are conceeding all these goals, that is how we have lost the last 3 games. We need to be alert in the second half becase if we aren't, we are going to conceed so many goals.

I think the funniest thing this weekend was people who seriously claim that anyone who disagrees with their pessimistic outlook on life and everything have "rose tinted glasses" and then seriously expect to win at Carlisle. For your information in the relegation to non league dogfight some seasons ago we had our first win there for 34 years. The manager -- one Steve Tilson. In the phrase so loved by these people "wake up and smell the coffee"

I actually believe that with Sawyer and Macca in the middle we could be a very good team. Christophe is a presence with little creativity and Grant I just don't see him as first team. Scannel also is coming back, if we can bring a defender or two in then we can go up the table.

I think the problem is the pressure that a bad starts puts on us. On two of those occasions we were galvanised by the signings of Leon Clarke (our top scorer last season) and Freddy Eastwood. I believe in the League One promotion season, Goater also stepped in to improve the team but we weren't actually defending like this and shipping this many goals.

The pressure I mentioned, at the moment is looking like pressure on this rumoured new midfielder who is desperately needed.

Yep, with 12 in all competions (9 in league) over Clarke who got 8 in the league only.

I think it's a confidence thing, once one goes in things start getting shaky, and things fall apart......

It's almost as if at the moment heads are dropping and the nerves are kicking in. May be a case of trying a bit too hard.
