I disagree.[b said:Quote[/b] (Barmy Army @ Dec. 29 2004,10:00)]This is a board for differing opinions.
Simply because some people think that a player had a good performance, doesn't mean that everyone else has to.
Debate is what this board thrives on.
Surprisingly enough this wasn't intended to be yet another ORM defends Maher thread (though come to think of it that's not a bad idea[b said:Quote[/b] (Barmy Army @ Dec. 29 2004,10:00)]This is a board for differing opinions.

I agree IMO Pettefer was MotM yesterday, Maher also had a decent game and is much like Gower in the sense that if he doesn't play nor do the team. I don't believe we can afford to be without either and I sincerely hope Gower makes it for Saturday.[b said:Quote[/b] (Mad Cyril @ Dec. 29 2004,10:23)]I disagree.[b said:Quote[/b] (Barmy Army @ Dec. 29 2004,10:00)]This is a board for differing opinions.

BTW. I think Peteffer was MOM yesterday.
But it is because of the high quality of football that the Shrimpers are producing that makes us feel as though we should be winning every game, and therefore yesterday feels like a disappointing result.[b said:Quote[/b] (* ORM * @ Dec. 29 2004,10:52)]Surprisingly enough this wasn't intended to be yet another ORM defends Maher thread (though come to think of it that's not a bad idea[b said:Quote[/b] (Barmy Army @ Dec. 29 2004,10:00)]This is a board for differing opinions.

I fully agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinions but in this case too much Christmas Sherry appears to have been consumed.
I suggest some people on here go back to looking at posts from the board this time last year. I also humbly suggest that if I'd said to anybody on here at the end of September that we would be 4th in the table after Christmas they'd have called me an idiot. If we doubled our points tally for the season we'd almost certainly be automatically promoted. This is the most promising period of SUFC's history since Alan Little was in charge.
Good for the goal difference[b said:Quote[/b] (Barmy Army @ Dec. 29 2004,12:01)]Last year however, I'd have been more inclined to have taken a 1-0 loss under Wignall.
Which opinions are you speaking of?[b said:Quote[/b] (* ORM * @ Dec. 29 2004,09:30)]Some of our fans are - I've just been reading some of the comments and ratings from yesterday's game.

I agree Petts was indeed industrious, but his distribution is woeful and nigh on all crosses are straight to the keepers hands without the custodian having to come off the line. The bigger issue is why did he play on the right with Tes on the left? It would take a fantastically convincing arguement to convince me that the pair should not have been swapped from the off. Even young nicky could have been brought on at some point to put at least one left footed player into the side. We were never going to create with such imbalance and for that I openly criticise Tilly. The gaffer in my book is doing a sterling job, but there are times when his coaching inexperience and lack of tactical knowledge are evident. No that is not a cue for 'who do you think you are?' questions. Football is a craft but many of us have served our apprenticeship on the terraces and are as capable of spotting a bloomer as any professional. Its not rocket science and is often more about the experience of years than the ability to play.[b said:Quote[/b] (Guest @ Dec. 29 2004,11:44)]I agree IMO Pettefer was MotM yesterday, Maher also had a decent game and is much like Gower in the sense that if he doesn't play nor do the team. Orient 0-1 in 2000, last minute goal if I remember rightly.[b said:Quote[/b] (* ORM * @ Dec. 29 2004,17:02)]One open question that I keep meaning to ask. When was the last time we lost a Boxing Day fixture ? I can remember the last four (though Leeboy had to remind me of the one four years ago). Neither of us could remember Boxing Day games before that.
You remember only too well. My one game of that season, 1400 mile round trip for that[b said:Quote[/b] (MrB @ Dec. 29 2004,17:23)]Orient 0-1 in 2000, last minute goal if I remember rightly.[b said:Quote[/b] (* ORM * @ Dec. 29 2004,17:02)]One open question that I keep meaning to ask.
