You're talking about a manager who got players to win matches when they weren't even being paid.Motivational skills must be zero?

I'm amazed by the amount of people who still bang on about our attendances and that we're a big club etc - as though that entitles us to beat these 'pub teams'. By now surely the penny has dropped. It's a tough league to get out of and it's a huge mess left behind for COSU to sort out (in many respects).Anyone would think Wealdstone simply exist to be beaten by teams that have bigger home attendances and aren't there to try and win the game
....and what about now on an even keel against total rubbish teams? Sutton were going nowhere, same with Fylde and as for Wealdstone, well they expected to get done 3 0. So powder puff when the chips should be up, something wrong somewhere? You're talking about a manager who got players to win matches when they weren't even being paid.
So often it does. Had that keeper not made a great save from kaf, or moncur stuck one of his two chances in the corner, or crowthers header was 6 inches to the left then everyone is positive. We could have easily won by a few goals with the exact same performance and most people would see that as a professional and highly effective away performance. I believe our retrospective analysis largely comes down to whether we kicked it over the line between the sticks or not.
Do you honestly think a different manager would play the same method with these same players, don't think so. This squad is better than this but set up with the same old boring methods, time he went. Give Currie the gig, can't be a worse watch!I'm amazed by the amount of people who still bang on about our attendances and that we're a big club etc - as though that entitles us to beat these 'pub teams'. Don't fret though, it's simple innit - splashing the cash on a few 'wow' signings will get us promoted. Would love to see a few of these fans try walking in Maher's shoes for a week.

Everybody else getting a 5-week headstart on us on their transfer business, and having squads of 25 players, is not an even keel.....and what about now on an even keel against total rubbish teams? Sutton were going nowhere, same with Fylde and as for Wealdstone, well they expected to get done 3 0. So powder puff when the chips should be up, something wrong somewhere?
Absolutely this. So many people were crying out for an identity and culture. We now have them, but due to all the disruption and poor environment, they are still being bedded in.Regarding the so called sideways and back football, it is designed to make sure you keep the ball. That is the way the management want to play. It probably won't change as it is the system that is the clubs blueprint. Lots of clubs do this and coach all their teams including youths to play the same way so that everyone knows their role. When we finally open up a defence and create a chance it too often results in a poor finish. Much of our problem is the lack of players who can consistently finish. We could also do with a bit more strength and height in midfield areas.
Totally agree. It's not anywhere near good enough for me. No excuses left for that performance!Pointless really commenting anymore as there will always be an excuse to counter our sub-standard performances.
This'll just go on next season and the season after.
Our standards have been so artificially crushed that most people are seemingly delighted with scraping a draw against part timers. Lower mid table beckons...but then, there's an excuse for that...
The most obvious example would be that GSM wouldn't have as much of a license to get forward and into the box to attack the far post. If he does and we lose the ball there's instantly space for the oppo to drive into whereas with the 3/5 at the back you have Taylor there ready to cover - Same with Ralph covering Bridge.Everybody else getting a 5-week headstart on us on their transfer business, and having squads of 25 players, is not an even keel.
The first season where we'll be truly on an even keel will be next season.

I'd much rather they stick with it and get better at it, than bow to the calls for a "plan B" or for different formations. Training a 2nd system and formation for a plan B, is using training ground time that should be spent getting better at the primary setup.
This all links into formations too. Plenty calling for 4 at the back, but our patterns of play, the way that we build up and the way that we press is all built on the foundation of 3 at the back. Changing to 4 would a much more seismic change than people think it would be.
I think we should be sticking with 3 in the middle too. So many other teams do it now, and whenever we've gone with 2 in the middle, we just get overrun in there.
Out of interest how do you know this? Did their players tell you?....and what about now on an even keel against total rubbish teams? Sutton were going nowhere, same with Fylde and as for Wealdstone, well they expected to get done 3 0. So powder puff when the chips should be up, something wrong somewhere?
How about if they get a draw?
No it's not is it - it's about being abit more grounded/balanced - we win a game it doesn't mean we're going to be champions and we lose a game doesn't mean we're going to be relegated. The lurch of comments on here to one direction or the other is staggering.Just read a post saying don't get excited when we win and don't get too down when we lose......
May the best team win, and its all about taking part.
Sounds like primary school sports day.....maybe that's what some people believe we should be like.
Except we are far from being on an even keel. Even you can see that, or perhaps not.....and what about now on an even keel against total rubbish teams? Enforced regular team changes don't help. Take this Saturday for example, Taylor , Kensdale and Ralph will be missing from last years side. Add Miley and Cardwell to the missing from last year and you begin to see the problems. Bloomin good job Gus didn't get booked yesterday. The signings over the last 12 months are all of a very good pedigree. They’ve all shown quality at one time or another and I’m pleased that we’ve signed these players.
However, there’s been a lot of inconsistent team performances this season. You never know which team will turn up - the world beaters who played Eastleigh or the plodding trudging team who struggle. Last night it was the latter unfortunately, at least until Morton came on and opened up midfield.
Not sure who’s to blame, is it the players, formation or orders from the gaffer? One thing I do know is it’s very frustrating.
Player for player we are as good and better than probably 3/4 of the LeagueExcept we are far from being on an even keel. Even you can see that, or perhaps not.
