We may lost but Iam backing Tilson to be

We got our strongest side for years, but still got one point from 3 games, if we pick up less than 4 points from our next 3 game by the end of the month, its time to panic!

The whole of the team must pull their finger out & start turning their possession into goals, fair enough that the another team will sit back & hit us on break - but the SUFC team MUST sure they don't let them do it & start putting pressure on another team from start and get one or two goals then let see what they can do, either sit back or attack us. For Tilson sake, I hope its don't happen to him like Glenn Hoddle at Spurs last season. Who want a repected SUFC Legend to lose his job if the team don't start performing.

The fans (including me) will back Tilson all the way - I hope that 2 or 3 years on Tilson contract suggest that he will be given time to get us on track, but will the players feel the same thing

time will tell.

Macclesfield with a s**t squad & s**t crowd but they are better than us, its hurt to see a smaller side with small crowd doing better after struggling last season.

I really hope that Southend will pick up sooner than later otherwise a long season ahead, my dream of top 7 is slowly becoming a nightmare.

W.S.

PS: Sacking Tilson at anytime this season would be a massive blow & its a real set back & we could wait for another 6 season before we got it right.

Definetly backing Tilly 110%

Obviuosly, like most other fans, the start of the season hasn't gone as i had thought, but it is only the third game of the season.

Lets see what the future holds, then make our judgements

I guess that anyone who went to the game will still be on their way back at the moment. I'm waiting til I see someone post their opinion of the game on here before I cast my vote on how we'll do this season.

As for sacking Tilson, why is this even raised here? It's been three games and the point we got was an exceptional result considering the opposition and venue. Why can't our supporters ever keep the faith.

The problem is not the results for I could live with that it's our attack that's worrying me. Today again even if would have had an eternity to score we just didn't look like scoring at all. My uneducated finger is pointing straight at Wayne Gray I'm afraid, 3 games in now and he hasn't shown an ounce of scoring ability. Spencer Prior, when he got subbed, was on the subs bench with his head in his hands and Adam Barrett looked solid even though he gave away a penalty which was highly unlucky since he dived to stop a shot and it just hit his hand pure accident not much he could've done about it, and Barrett surprisingly looked most likely to actually score when he came on! If Brush and Tilly really believe that Gray can do a job then keep in on there, but me personally I'm praying for Corbett and Dudfield upfront. Let's pray for it all to go right against Cambridge maybe it's just that Gray needs to settle in who knows, but let us hope!

Everyone wants Tilly+ Brush to succeed and its way too early to talk about pressing the panic button, but there are things that maybe need to be looked at.....
Defensively, 5 goals in 2 games is a bit worrying. On paper Prior + Edwards at CB looks solid, but they are both over 30 and might lack a yard of pace. maybe Barrett should get a go.
Clearly there are problems with scoring and thats a combination of lack of service to the front pair and the choice of forwards. it may take a few weeks for all the pieces of the jigsaw to fit.
BUT Tilly has got to be adventurous and consider changes. He clearly has his 'favourites'... (Prior, Edwards, Pettefer, Maher I'd say) and those he clearly doesnt rate (Husbands, Corbett ?) who look to most of us like they deserve a start. A good manager will be brave enough to drop players and make changes, before its too late. I hope Tilly is brave...
two other points....
1. Tactically we were niave against Cheltenham and had no response except to revert to route-1 (Something that works if Drewe is up front, but not for a Gray/Dudfield combo). We need to learn from this.
2. We seem to be poor on set-pieces, commentary today said a number of free kicks were poor/wasted. This is something that should be worked on now!

Cambridge on Sat is a huge game, local derby and just before the West Ham match. This is the perfect opportunity to get that first win, otherwise the heads may start to drop...

I agree that Corbett needs to be given a run out but I don't see him as the answer to our goalscoring problems upfront. Drewenaldo and Dudfield to me.

On the subject of Gray, I though Vs Lincoln, East Thurrock he looked to be a decent player that can offer something different to our team but in the other games I've seen I'd say he hasn't looked the part I'm afraid.

I've got a feeling, once his settled, he will be like Connie upfront. Doesn't actually offer anything to us in a footballing sense but scores goals by being in the right place at the right time. Obviously, I think we'd all settle for this but when his not scoring, like Connie, will recieve a lot of abuse on here and at the games.

5 goals in 3 games is pretty similar to what was happening second half of last season, IIRC (and would be more than happy for a statto to put me right

), the difference is that we ain't scoring any more

Ala Robert Newman who had his favourites, Tilson needs to address the whole team not just turning play into goals, esp when our defence is leaking goals and our midfield look useless. Im confident he will do this but he must be carefull not to make excuses but instead to make sure we get acceptable performances.
