Wayne Gray

Shrimpador

First XI
I thought Wayne was superb on Friday night. His first touch has improved so much over the last season or so. I remember times last year when the ball would come at him and end up rebounding off his shin into touch. Now everything that comes to him sticks to his boots. He holds the ball up brilliantly which gives so much more to the team than just being able to run faster than Linford Christie.

More credit to Tilly on Brush for coaching him well? I think so.

I think we missed Guttridge when he went off, but losing Gray gave us no options upfront. I hope his hamstring injury isn't too bad.

Would certainly hit us hard if he did face a lengthy spell out, theres been times when He's been the difference in games as he causes defences problems... That said, Goater looked Sharp when he came on on friday...

I didnt think he played amazing, but i suppose he does alot of things that go unoticed to me, like holding the ball up and stuff, needs to bag a few more goals in my opinion.

Certainly needs some goals.
He missed the simplest header in the 2nd half and he had Sodje right behind him screaming for it

we will drop him for a goat thats on a hunger strike shall we ?

The Goats been out for a while, i'm saying Gray desperately needs a goal or two. Any striker measures his performance on how often he is scoring. Grays last goal, other than pens, was probably at the end of September. 4 months for a sriker not to score is a long time.

You are joking right?

Yep, it would be nice to see Gray score from open play again. For the amount of effort he puts into a game, winning headers, tracking back and tackling he is vastly under-rated and under-praised but a forward needs to score goals.

I reckon he'll forge a great working relationship with Jevons.

Gray does seem to control and hold the ball up better, as Shrimpador says, he used to get a ball played to his feet and somehow it would bounce off his shin/shoulder/arse.

Unfortunately he just doesnt ever look like scoring.

In the last two home games he has been clear through and his dribbling has let him down, although ultimately led to goal chancces. Against brentford it led to gower having a blocked shot, vs Swindon the ball ended up with Gower again to score.

At the moment Id prefer Gray over Goater, although the Goat did look better when he came on, seemed to be getting to the ball better and laying it off like he was early season.
