Watford's Uche Ikpeazu is on radar of Southend United manager Phil Brown

As many had assumed, it looks as though, at the moment during the embargo, it's a policy of one out one in.

"We will all sit down to discuss Don’s future but if anyone deserves a new deal for how hard he’s worked then it’s him,” said Brown. “He really has worked his socks off since he’s been here.”

Phil's reference for Don??? Sadly, in this life, you don't often get what you deserve. I don't see him getting much time os Saturday and it's my impression that he would have to put on a stunning performance to change opinions. Unlikely, with his state of match fitness. Sorry it's tough but......... bye Don..........hello Uche?

Indeed, although it actually appears we have one space so we could sign one player before anyone leaves.

Still dont understand this 20 player limit, its not what the league rules say, nor how it was explained by the league when I asked, but it certainly seems to be the case.

At the moment it looks to me like midfield is sorted, we have cover and depth.

Defence we look ok, if Phillips can stay fit I think we have a decent enough pairing with Prosser with cover if need be.

Up front is our weak point, Im very happy with Corr and Eastwood, but not so much with whats on the bench. Still time for Reid to prove himself and Cowan may or may not be offered a deal. This guy from Watford could therefore be useful.

Please dont extend Cowan's contract on the basis he works hard! With such a small squad you need players in reserve who can come on and do the business- we have seen Clifford and Thompson step up and do that. Need goals on the bench and Cowan is not the answer.

As I inferred, Phil Brown's words sound like a reference for his future employers.

O.K. Say both Corr or Eastwood get injured or suspended, can you see Cowan and Reid getting the necessary goals, because I can't. Reid maybe, but seems a bit off the pace at the moment. Whereas, Uche Ikpeazu and Reid, we would have a chance, as I think Ikpeazu would possibly be close to on a par with Corr and Eastwood, even tho a bit raw.

Well done the Orange one, any chance you could appear on the Telly and let the world know about this kids availability and potential?
