Warning of Another Dodgy Scam

Well, it might be, but it might also be legitimate.

I got a phone call a few months back from a withheld number. The person on the other end of the line claimed to be from Chubb, and said he was canvassing people in the area to see if they had a home security system, and if they did, were they looking to upgrade it.

Needless to say I told him we had a very good alarm system that was linked to a private security firm (which it is) and that I wasn't interested. I then rang the local Police station to give them the details of the call.

In my area we frequently get leaflets through the door from the police telling us that burglars are in the area, and to beware, and we received a leaflet a couple of weeks earlier. The Police were very interested to say the least.
