I dare say that if we were playing Halifax or Macclesfield we too would be fairly confident of a decent victory. Let's hope our boys deliver as we know they can and give them a shock.

I think it will be a very tight game; could go either way.

Walsall are coming into this game off the back of a 1-1 draw away to Port Vale.

Was very interested to see they also have a player called Clifford who they signed from Chelsea.

We know we're a good side and we also know that we're well capable of winning the game. A shock? Hmmmmm. I wouldn't consider a win tomorrow as a "shock" per se, it'll certainly be a tough game but if we play the way we know we can then it's anyone's tie.

I wonder if Isaac Layne , Ellis Brown or Jason Williams will get a run out? I feel confident about our defence and strong midfield but remain as yet unconvinced of the forward line. Barney already saying he is back to his best, bit of a bold statement on the back of one penalty. Bazza as much as he is a hero has his limitations. Weston is a winger with a reputation of blowing very hot or cold (Paul Clarkes comments more or less, not mine) Hardly a scary strike force despite aspects of extra pace. Accringtom Manager said they held us easy and we didnt look like scoring. Before any one trots out the usual stuff about goals coming from all over the place/ team, which I understand, Someone banging in 20+ goals usually means your on your way up.

No shock if we do win...Walsall are not a bad side but our club is bigger, so hardly any sort of stupidly named/lazy Media line of a giant killing!

Truthfully I think Walsall fans are just 'bigging it up' a bit without really knowing. I reckon we have a very good chance as all players on view will have something to prove, especially those that didn't start on Saturday. This season really does have a good feel about it.

We have shown over the past few years we can get results against League One teams, there really isnt that much of a gap between the two divisions.

As Jam states we have shown we do ok against higher placed sides: our problems have been against sides that are often below us in the legue.

Didn't see it as a massive shock that we beat Millwall in the fa cup last season due to their terrible league position at the time. Would be surprised if the bookies have much of a favourite either way on this. It will be tight and as I say I'll be going 1-1 full time, jack Payne to score the winner :Worthy:

Agree with the Corr comments, he was average at the weekend and offered little bar an aerial threat. Weston however was the complete opposite. Although he missed a sitter, his all round play was really, really impressive. A good comparison would be a Gavin Tomlin type player. Obviously a little premature to say that off the back of one performance, but bar CC, Weston was the best player on the pitch for me.

Clifford would play even better against higher opposition. I'd love to see him start tomorrow but I reckon he will be rested

I don't really get to many home games, but I hope PB lets him carry that momentum onto tomorrow night because he was simply faultless Saturday. I'm a huge fan of Ryan Leonard, but I really doubt he'll reach the same level of Clifford if he manages to get his head down and really develop the way he should. Those two will be crucial to us this season though.

Leonard is IMHO the best player we have and proved it last season. Clifford needs to prove himself but if he performs anywhere near Lenny's level then those two will give us a big push towards promotion this season.

Testament to the job brown and the back room staff have done with Leonard. Probably said you're our man, we believe you're good enough. Nobody would have said a few years ago when we signed him that that quiet slim lad would turn into the engine and midfield maestro he has. And still so young.

Clifford is class as well, just needs a run in the team and no suspensions :Worthy:

I remember first play-off leg at Crewe when Leonard came on as sub and there were a lot of groans and general dischuffedness from Southend fans. Shows how things can change.
